  1. yes im planning to next time i visit the boat this weekend....
  2. Thanks for the recommendations. Does it matter which type of BKF to go for, would this do? Bar Keepers Friend, Cleanser, 12 oz 340 g | eBay rob
  3. Hi All We're having a shift around inside and removed a seat. Its revealed discoloration in the wood which is going to be a tad unsightly. Although it looks damp this seems historic. I was thinking sanding down and varnish unless anyone has anything else i can try? Would this sort of discoloration sand off? thanks!!!! rob

  10. Yes often see it around that area... always made me laugh when it was Foxes Afloat on it, whenever they did a piece to camera from the tiller it always looked like they were both in a pram, with the lowered cover...
  11. Turns out i do have ballast, just on one side of the boat - probably to compensate for the toilet tanks.... the depth is small so not really going to be useful for any storage but will make access holes along the side that doesn't have ballast. Thought about using deck access hatches as these will mostly be covered by furniture... is there any benefit in introducing airflow into the bilge, as these lids could be left off as they wont be visible?
  12. Read with interest but i can't get a picture in my head of the location and where the boat is in relation, so this comment might be no use whatsoever...... any local farmers or 4x4 owners/local digger hire who can assist pulling/pushing etc?
  13. Wouldn't it be great if these just took debit cards......
  14. Good to have a purpose, seems like a good plan?
  15. Thanks for the replies.... so looks like it needs to be a DIY job for a storage area. I just now need to double check if there is room... Came across this for inspection points - seems quite a good solution: Often wondered about this. I do have holes at the rear of the boat where i can inspect (under the stairs). I thought most boats have sections across the boat that stop water flowing to the rear - it would have to rise above the floor and into the next section? bit like Titanic's emergency doors! Once I get the floor up i can confirm this - i might be talking rubbish.
  16. thanks.. the Resin Polish contains silicone which some people steer clear of... you seem to get on fine with it though!!
  17. forgot to ask, which product in their range did you use as this is remarkable... also is this by hand or did you use one of those rotary buffers? Wow thats quite a transformation!!
  18. Excellent point. I will certainly delve in shortly to confirm. I've not seen any ballast over the rest of the boat, but i suppose its dangerous to assume!
  19. no we'll be using laminate or wood, not both.... the boat has a chipboard type base and whatever we choose will go over it. I intend to get to the bilge by the access hatches as per above..
  20. Hi All We're about to start on the inside of the boat, which means removing the tatty carpet and putting in wooden/laminate flooring. The base is just chipboard sheet type material (hopefully better quality than just chipboard!). I'm planning on access to the bilge dotted along the way and thought maybe go one step more and put in access hatches which might double as underfloor storage etc... not fussed on them being 'invisible' - maybe make a feature of them? I've had a look around but not been successful in finding a suitable product - do other have these and if so any pointers as to a supplier? if i can't find one i may have to construct something but this probably wont look as smart.... also the flooring.... is there any merit in real wood flooring over laminate? thanks as ever!!!!
  21. The boats themselves tend to be very well looked after and equipped - engines serviced as needed, paint jobs done etc, often without toooooo much thought to cost (since its all shared).... sometimes this makes the syndicate lazy - we paid £16k for a roof paint and when we next went on it next it looked just OK and the metal shackles were still the old rusty ones!
