  1. You may find that not all other vehicles are as you say It may be that all motor vehicles are. I beleive more stringent policing of the rules we have in place would be a better start. Then have a look at adding further rules. Start handing out fixed penalty tickets for the laws we have. And that will go further in reducing the two deaths a year than compulsory insurance. Which i will add is not in the report that the government are considering. The police don' do anything about cyclists at the moment so what will change with new laws. I am not quite 15 stone and very unfit but even I can cruise at 30mph if the conditions are right.
  2. I'e just read the report in the OP. Oh it says we needs new laws because there is no cycling version of death by dangerous driving laws. Errr yes there is he was convicted to prison for it. Which is a dam sight more than most motorists get for killing cyclists or pedestrians
  3. How common are deaths by cyclists. I would say that many many cyclists are insured. Myself included. Membership of many clubs give you free insurance too. However if it was compulsory I would say that the ones we call idiots now would probaby ignore that law anyway. How would this be policed and at what cost.
  4. We went clockwise from middlewich, not sure why bit I decided for a reason. I think maybe it was the easy run to start with. And the second part we could stop wherever and make up or lose time which you can' in the Manchester bit. I second bugsworth. Staying the night. We stopped before the aquaduct the night before and enjoyed a lovely view across the fields. We took two relaxing weeks having a day off in Manchester and also visiting all the NT and English heratige properties around the ring The Manchester transport museum is a must see, right next to the canal too. We went Easter last reay and hardly saw any other moving boats.

  6. I play on a 4g surface. Which is basicly fake grass. It has artficial blades of grass on a bed of little rubber balls. It is the next generation on from 3g. I beleive 3g may be the same but based on a sand base. Maybe. I suspect they are up to 6g by now. But 3 and 4 are fine to play on but still don't slide on them

  12. It' the right place and the experts will be along. I don't think anyone will hire their boat out because of licence insurance and the rigourous bss that goes with it. I suspect the cost would make buying a boat and then selling it worth doing. You never know you may love it so much you will decide to keep it and do it every year. I know mate boats do long hires as they have been spotted a long way from home and may do a deal for a guaranteed booking over a long term. A wide beam that was moored next to us decided winter sun was the way forward and shipped it over to France and are cruising over there now. But the experienced folk will be along soon.

  20. I use a small stove wild camping. We use the wooden pellets for cat litter. I doubt this would be economical for a large stove on a daily basis but it does us all right for a cuppa

  23. I remember there was some strength reductions to reduce tax bills. Not sure if this is a blanket cover though. Carling reduced theirs to 3.7% but kept 4% on the can. Thisbgabe them something like a 50 million tax savings. They dident change the can as they felt their customers would like to see a price saving.
