  1. Once you have the bottom lit they just burn upwards slowly if you wish. I've never seen them sold in the UK I've always brought them back from Germany, the ones I have just fit in the 'Fffing'. Next time I see John Jackson I might ask him if he see's a market for them.
  2. Those German coal bricks burn well in the back cabin 'Effing' one will drop in nicely they last a long time start with a few bits of wood and a fire lighter.
  3. If you want a 'Hudson' shaped hull (there is nothing special in it shape wise to give a boatbuilder a headace anyway!) ask Graham Reeves as he I believe has already built one or is about too for a customer. Steve's earlier craft were shaped differently from the style you are thinking of.
  4. On mine I have it on the underside of the slide and under the slide runner as well. MOST IMPORTANT only have it on one surface face to face it will not slide. You can guess how I found this out! Yesterday because of this thread I wondered down to the stores to purloin a roll to replace mine only to find they have non but did have 600 x 1200 x 3mm thick sheets of the stuff so I have chopped it into strips and will drill and countersink it and screw it on.
  5. Its very good lasts a couple of years before the glue gives up on it. Quite amusing when guests who are used to heavy slides find they have just shot mine down the roof of the boat! Not cheap but well worth it.
  6. Towergate Marden do policies for empty houses and houses left empty for a few months at a time.
  7. Industry standard for sliding surfaces is 'Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene' UHMWP available as tape or sheet loads of choice on fleabay. Only put it on one surface as face to face it forms a NON slip surface.
  8. A 4LW worth nothing plenty about for about £500 in better condition than that. The gearbox might have more value than the engine.
  9. Nothing to do with you I have winded 71'6" but that was in the late 80's or early 90's you might get 65' now. No idea why they mucked about with it but they did.
  10. What you do is keep the control in your pocket and whistle as you press the button, nobody will know, they will just think your playing pocket billards at the same time.
  11. Unless I've missed it, nothing seen in the regs from CRT. And there are plenty of boats about with it fitted operating in full view of CRT with no issues.
  12. You used to be able to wind 72 ft there with no problem till they buggered it all up.
  13. A trailer which will streach from 40ft to 60ft or more to carry long loads, (Tukey has one, expensive bit of kit to buy) as your boat is 57ft it will not sit on a 40ft trailer due to the overhang Southern Star will know the exact overhang allowed better than me, but I'll be suprised if its 17ft! http://www.mjtcranes.co.uk/transport/tuckeys/ this is it.
  14. To be fair I expected it to be higher than that being a 'fatty'. Sounds a reasonable deal to me as your going to have a lorry with a trombone trailer a 80 to 100 ton crane and escort van, at least 3 people for a whole day.
  15. One way or the other you will have to pay something to the 2 boat yards! The 3 companys I quoted probably allready know the boat yards and could well advise you on which to use. 32 tons usually needs at least an 80 ton crane probably more depending on reach.
