  1. It will be different for every boat out there. With ours, we just 'wedge' them against each other.
  2. The answer to, What charger? Has no answer, that cannot be discussed, but the ultimate answer is check with the battery manufacturer, not supplier and then make a decision. For example: My new batteries(open wet lead acid) the manufacturer says 10 to 13% of battery (bank) stated capacity at 20 Hr rate. It also gives the voltage that should be used, (12 volt system) 14.8v absorption and 13.2v float, equalise at 15.5v So for me that is 10 to 13% of 390 amp.hr equals 39 amp to 50.7amp charger, I have a 50 amp three stage charger. My answer to the question is, Any three stage charger up to the maximum (amps) stated by the manufacturer that can be adjusted to the figures given.
  3. Unless they do not have them in stock and say they cannot back order.
  4. Daily Mail article : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-506604/Water-tank-fault-scalded-baby-girl-death-known-unreliable.html Found by a search engine.

  6. No, what you got was the forum's sense of humour and trying to tell you in a nice way, you fell for the advertising blurb. I advise you to go and find better advice if you think it will help you. Oh! no forget that, you have already bought it. Let us know if it works, long term.

  8. Depending on model they are designed for multi-fuel, mine has lasted six years live-aboard, in use roughly October to March, inclusive.
  9. Yes pedantic, but if giving advice it is always better to make sure there is no chance of misinterpretation and writing that a battery will take 15.1v without necessary information is slapdash and not what I would expect from someone with qualification and experience, as you have inferred you have .
  10. Graham this is the post that I was referring to, yes they are capable of taking 15+v but you missed out the temperature compensation, weather bit.
  11. I am not disputing your 15v charge voltage @ 15° c but, as is your habit, missed out the vital bit temperature compensation in the original post.
  12. Whosoever wishes to take advice from the manufacturer.
  13. The horses mouth: http://www.trojanbattery.com/pdf/datasheets/T105_Trojan_Data_Sheets.pdf Read carefully especially the Charging instructions and Temperature compensation
  14. Yes it is scientific. but with battery charging for example a lot of different factors pop in to muck about with the theory. Have look at this for What size charger http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/chargesize.html that will explain a lot more distinctly than I ever could
  15. Agreed, I thought my, What means of charging do you have? covered that but maybe to general.
  16. So the real question is, What means of charging do you have? Make and model of charger would help, if available.
  17. How does what he has effect what he buys, other than space available. I think the answer is open wet lead acid, unless they need to be fitted on their side or upside down.
  18. No. Came to agreement as to delivery, at my request. All negotiations etc. done via e-mail (via site 'contact us'), so far so good, Customer service excellent and answers almost immediately given. Just to make clear, should have said ordered expecting them next Monday
  19. You can make it fool proof but never idiot proof. So at the risk of repeating everyone else and myself, Smartgauge with a big sign. I also mentioned as did Arthur (Brown) check the connections for tightness and cleanliness. ps. fault finding from afar is not easy but I reckon vacuum cleaner is a good point to start at. I doubt it. and I expect your amp.hr figures are assuming @ 12v
  20. Just bought from Tayna, have yet to arrive expecting them Monday. Hint: search the internet for discount code.
