  2. One must always save a few tokens for beer as well. You are spot on sir.
  3. Yes but one must always keep some coins aside for donuts...........oh yeah.
  4. 5 boats moored on visitors moorings at Castle gardens, most I've seen for a while.
  5. With the 5k the op has saved he could put an extra 9 ft on his existing boat. I would imagine that would be easier and less stressful than refitting a new sailaway and also considerably less expensive.
  6. Martin at kedian engineering will stretch a boat for £555 per foot.
  7. I always thought the cod was quite nice but am definitely looking forward to a better plaice.

  9. yes , a cracking boat at a great price , I absolutely agree but unfortunately about 4k above my budget, which is a shame as I would have this in a heartbeat.
  10. Slightly above my budget unfortunately.
  11. Glad your sorted, looks like we will be neighbours shortly.
  12. I have never had any problems contacting reception.
  13. The lady in the office doesn't start work until 2.
  14. Yes, Proctor's would be ideal for you. I have a caravan there at the moment which will be my residence whilst boat hunting.

  16. good to see you haven't lost your sense of humour Terry. Alfie is on the up now which is good.
  17. I think although he may have had a huge slice of luck initially as he has gained more experience of boats he has gained enough knowledge to know a good un when he sees it.
  18. Yes, I have read quite a few posts on your boat buying philosophy and it sounds great, I wish I had the nerve to turn up with a big bag of money and no survey and sail off into the sunset. There is such a mixed feeling on here with regards to suveys and as you quite rightly point out there are so many get out clauses it almost makes the survey not worth the paper it's written on. I will be getting a hull survey only when I make my purchase as I dont want to risk buying a colander.
  19. I appreciate that Alan and yes Terry was very unfortunate but I would be very disappointed if I paid a surveyor and he failed to pick up the fact that overplating was required . I have also learnt that there is always an element of risk when buying a used boat but getting a well respected surveyor involved can only minimise the risk and not eliminate it altogether.
  20. I can't get my head round the fact that someone would pay good money for a big lump of metal that has been sat in water for 30 years without taking it out of the water to see what condition it is in. I am in the process of looking for a boat at the moment and in the short time I have been a member of this forum I have learnt three things , hull survey as a minimum , well serviced engine and not to be taken in by shiny tidy interiors. It is a minefield for someone with inexperience so minimise the risk with a survey.
  21. I take it that both buyers went ahead without having any kind of survey.
  22. I did this with a mobile phone, worked a treat. Got to be worth a try.
  23. Chin up Terry , you will get sorted mate . As the lockie said you will have a wealth of support and help from this wonderful community. Rick.
