  6. I understand that the SG is self adjusting for a new installation, taking a few charge/discharge cycles to settle down. Could you disconnect it and then connect again as in a new installation?

  19. There's a very short wide beam boat based on a typical widebeam canal boat hull, moored in Bristol Marina. It has a high level wheelhouse, with a normal height deckhouse behind, and a bedroom below the foredeck and wheelhouse. There is a good sunbathing platform on top of the deckhouse. Despite its shortness it has a clear space about 8ft long on the aft deck where there are 2 aluminium tracks to allow a car to be driven on athwartships. I suppose the air draught is too much for many canals, but probably no more than a dutch barge, and it shows what can be done in a very short length.
  20. wasn't you driving was it, Phylis?
  21. get back on topic and cover up for Gawd's sake !!
  22. please don't do any work on your 240V circuits - after all, we'd like to still see you posting next week.
  23. I have an automatic car. If I am coming up to a red light with a car in front of me I cruise along as slowly as possible hoping I don't need to brake and can pull away close behind the car in front when the lights change. I always get it right at familiar lights. Annoys the hell out of the tailgater behind. Luvvit
  24. nonsense. more hot air. It's not a "call-out charge", it's travelling time which is universally charged for work done away from base for most visiting types of profession. Interestingly the HMRC rules on allowable deductions for income tax appear to exactly reflect what has been discussed here. Nobody gets relief on the cost of getting to their normal fixed place of work. Everybody gets tax relief on the cost of going from their normal fixed place of work to a jobsite.
  25. Our local marina is very fussy about accepting oil into their waste oil recycling tank because some folk try to tip contaminated bilge water into it. Apparently if there is 10% of water mixed with the oil, then the recycling company charges them an arm and a leg for processing it.
