  3. Oh my goodness the pace of "normal" life is sick, stupid and we are sooo lucky xxxx
  4. I was talking to OH the other day about if you had a horse drawn boat these days you would not get very far (tow path not continuous for horses). If we were in the 1970's and I had access to the towpath me and several friends and ponies would have relished galloping on the towpath, in the autumn/winter we would have obliviously caused a mud bath. I think horses should not have access today because the use of the towpath would be completely different and the two uses are incomparable. I see people using the towpath to long rein young horses, because it keeps them straight but that is all. But hunters using the towpath regularly would create an impassable muddy bog ... Sadly
  5. i do not see any boatyard or marina taking on somebody who is so non compliant, what scene would she have caused at her mooring/yard/marina, i say that is inevitable as she is classed mentally unbalanced
  6. so much bickering of who acted rightly or wrongly, the bottom line is Maggie did not help herself and she declined any assistance, advice and help and was steadfast in her nonconformity and her rebellious behavior. She had a right to refuse assistance and she used it and received the consequences. had CRT not acted and allowed her to stay on the cut without paying her dues ... well we all know what the forum responses would be to that. it is a sad case in lots of ways, yet Maggie made her decision to carry on with her fight. you cannot help somebody who does not want to be helped or is incapable of being helped just my thoughts
  7. . lol... Looks like somebody asked them "do you drive the boats ladies?" To which they replied in sequence "What dear?" "Me dear?" "No dear!" Ha ha ha ha

  10. I agree, but when I'm cruising I can nip inside after doing a lock and tied and make a swift cuppa and carry on without waiting for the kettle

  12. Have a thermos flask near the kettle, make your brew then pour surplus boiling water into thermos flask for use later, saves energy and time x

  17. I get you Mayalld, when it came to doing the lift bridge on my own it was quite easy, although I drove my boat through and reversed her back to the bridge, did not pull her (I'm too weak), I proceeded feeling quite chuffed xx
