    It took us 6 hours from Alrewas to Mercia last Sunday, it was rather busy though. Alrewas was almost solid with moored boats last weekend, we were really lucky to get a spot by the footbridge near the cemetery, a boat left just as we approached.

    it's a row of bollards, same as a lock landing, why not call it that? We came through here last week, the work-boat was moored there plus some other eejit had moored next to it, taking up all the room. Daughter's BF had to walk across the work-boat to open the bridge, my OH would probably have refused to do this if there had been just the two of us.

    Doable in a rather long day! I agree with your comments on Alrewas though, plus a decent Chinese takeaway, Co-op, Fish & Chips (we haven't tried this, so can't recommend). There's a lady who sells home-made jams, chutneys etc. in the village, pick what you want and leave your cash in the honesty box. (Some people are very trusting). ETA There's an Indian restaurant near Bagnall lock, we haven't tried this yet, either.

    When you do get them sparkling, give them a good lacquering, we haven't had to clean ours since we bought Cloud 9 almost two years ago.

    Ours is due next week, we didn't receive a reminder though. OH renewed online; I printed out the 'discs' and treated myself to a cheap & cheerful laminator from ASDA, only £10 + £2 for 25 pouches.
