I'm convinced it had spent time sunk but they wouldn't tell me anything about it claiming they didn't know! It's in much worse condition than the photos show. The floor boards are totally rotten for a start.

Hi, does anyone have any information about this boat please? https://www.whiltonmarina.co.uk/used-narrowboats/details/4382.aspx Thanks
  3. Why would they care about bad publicity? They do as they please and answer to no one. No doubt the people at the top are fully protected from any sort of personal prosecution as well. The whole thing stinks.
  4. Many people have gone over to Facebook where they can surround themselves with only those who agree with their point of view.
  5. That's weird... Edit: must read whole thread before posting "clever" replies...
  6. The layout is exactly what we want and it didn't smell damp or neglected like the others we looked at. The windows were one of the very few things we spotted that we didn't like. They look far too easy to break into. They'd be top of the list of things to replace but not a cheap job, even DIY.
  7. I recently had a look at Grace at Whilton. https://www.whiltonmarina.co.uk/used-narrowboats/details/3619.aspx It ticks all the boxes but I can't find it listed on the canalplan boat list. Does anyone know if it had a different name or know anything of it's history? Thanks
  8. Why is the moderator removing Roger's website url from his posts? It's not an email address!
  9. I'd be interested to see it if you could PM it please.
  10. I'm curious as to how the level can drop at all. Surely it'd have to be a huge leak to have any affect on such a large lock free stretch?
  11. It was Thursday 10th but your description sounds very similar to my experience.
  12. I bet that wasn't at 5pm or later! I came past a week ago looking to moor and have dinner in the pub. After having to almost stop in the tunnel due to some numpty ahead of me thinking he could moor up in the entrance to the tunnel, I spent the next 20 minutes trickling past an endless line of moored boats for nearly a mile all the way up to the turn into Rugby Wharf. I gave up and went through to Hillmorton Locks where the only space was on the 2 water points. Decided to not moor there even just for overnight and moved back round the bend and stopped there.
  13. I'm on a hire boat on the Ashby and Oxford and have dropped to tickover at least 50 yards ahead of any moored boats. Unfortunately everyone else seems to think that as we're on a hire boat they can speed past us as fast as they like. One rather ironic instance was NB Patience...
  14. Plenty on eBay for a fiver or thereabouts.
  15. No need for any solar panels then, just a nice strong cup of tea
  16. Maybe they were trying to copy this:
  17. I think you'll find that Marmite is the scrapings from the Devil's toilet bowl...
  18. What a great thread. This is all very useful info for me as I'm planning on a trip up the Ashby at the beginning of September Is there anywhere we should avoid mooring overnight?
  19. I need some eye bleach! That's hideous.
  20. Is there really any need for this?
  21. Damn autocorrect on my phone!
  22. Boat is 65 feet so will need to find a windy hole to turn around. My mum and her fella are coming with us so the lick free route is more appealing. Is there anywhere we should avoid mooring overnight?
  23. I'll be hiring a nb for 4 days at the beginning of September. It'll be the first time on the cut for over 20 years! Starting from Rugby, we're still not sure which way to go or how far to go before turning round. Initial thoughts were to head north via Coventry canal and on to Ashby. Only one lick that way!
