  1. Can be higher but you have to be carefull as some of the water in the pipe between the pump and shower tray will not get pumped away and can run back into shower tray.so keep pipe short instructions are good regarding fitting

  3. I want to have a single battery powering my Wallas oven and hob with a seperate battery and its own solar panel and wiring with the exhaust for the oven hob exiting through the steel of the boat, can any one see a problem with two 12 volt systems on a boat? Reason I would like to do this is my boat has no gas and I would like to know that the Wallas will run even if the main battery's are low as the hob will also work as a heater if my main heater fails so it's also a back up system Thanks for all the healpfull replies to my other questions and hope this is not a daft question

  8. To be awarded that sort of money is a joke, I am deaf and enjoy cycling and walking if a bike comes from behind me whist I am walking I dont have a clue its there cyclist dont understand that I have not heard them and think your being difficult when you dont react and get out of the way.A cyclist should always have to slow when approching a hazard so if needed they can stop in a controled manor without causing a hazard to other persons. If I go out on by bike I hope that the way I ride my bike improves the relationship between cyclist and other users of the towpaths and trails

  10. I would be asking for a long maybe ten mile test run in the direction you were going to take the boat home, broker driving if all ok then handing the money over, its the least they should offer now there has been a problem, Engine running and reving in the boat yard is not the same as underload make sure your happy before parting with money. Good luck hope all goes well.
  11. Hi Hope someone can advise or point me in a direction of the information i need. have a bubble stove with a back boiler which supplies a simple large bore copper pipe which runs the length of the boat in a loop back to the boiler on rear of the bubble stove the system was fitted when the boat was new ,It has a water supply with an isolation tap for filling the system and has a Zilmet - 10 Litre Flat Expansion Vessel with a pressure release valve and gauge, the system when the bubble stove is turned up goes to 2.8 bar and then I get a slight drip from the pressure release valve which has 3. bar stamped on it.My questions are once I have bleed the system to get air out of it should the isolation tap be closed so its a closed system relying on the Zilmet - 10 Litre Flat Expansion Vessel is the running pressure of 2.8bar because I am leaving the water pressure supply turned on? what sort of pressure should the Zilmet - 10 Litre Flat Expansion Vessel be set at via a pump? what sort of pressure should the sysytem run at? Many thanks for all the advice I have received on my other questions
  12. I have only had the boat a few months and its an all electric boat with a beta engine generater set. the wiring is in place for battery leads for an inverter and it looks like the inverter which has been removed before I bought the boat had a 240volt lead going into the inverter and a 240 volt coming out auto switching I beleive this is called? as these have been joined together so no break in 240volt system from the shore line . the victron I have bought does not have this function and will be wired through a three way switch when I can get a electrician out to do this. my problem is I intend to next week take the boat from its mooring and shore line for a weeks cruise, my boat has a mains fridge which I need to supply constant 240volts.I intend just to connect the inverter lead with correct 16 amp socket to where I have disconnected the shore line at the boat just for this 7 day cruise
  13. Hi As a tempory solution is it ok to make a wire and plug an inverter into the shore socket to provide 230 voltage till a three way switch can be installed properly?
  14. Thanks for the prompt replies and good advice
  15. 20. Thanks for the replies Ray has got which system it is there seems to be a few boats fitted with this system it has a ac generator shaft driven via a extra fan belt and as Ray has said it alters the engine speed to 1,500rpm when cruising via an hydraulic gearbox. I am looking at a boat with this system on and am worried about how reliable it is it seems to alter the type of gearbox fitted I was hoping that maybe someone on here has the system and could advise if they have had trouble free cruising
  21. Hi Wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction for a manual for the prop gen as fitted to a beta BV2203 also any information regarding reliability and thoughts of how good the system worked on a narrowboat

  24. Hi This is my first post so please be gentle with me I am looking at buying a boat and twelve months ago looked at a boat called Lichen Lady a seventy foot boat built by Ian Kemp and fitted out by Dave Freeman. When I looked at the boat it was in a poor state for a 1995 boat? and being smartened up by the owner the boat now is up for sale.Does anyone know any thing about this boat someone told me the poor condition at the time was due to water damage.I now have the funds to buy a boat and keep going back to this boat does anyone know the history or anything about this boat?
