  1. You don't look quite as wet as my wife did when she went in the marina last November - it's about 10 feet deep here and she had a close encounter with the bottom. Must remember to keep a camera handy. Made my neice laugh when I described it as 'I heard a loud splash and was concerned that one of the many dogs here had gone in but it was only your Aunt'.
  2. Have you tried to contact the previous owner?
  3. Sorry, you lost me at 'that's '
  4. That's how we look at, except I'm rapidly approaching 79
  5. We had a lady volunteer at Farmers Bridge - she appeared as we approached the first lock and set it for us, then never saw her again but then every lock was open and ready for us! Didn't even get a chance to thank her. I didn't think there was a staircase there?
  6. It's possible you were given an empty replacement instead of a full one. Only guessing, but the warmer weather may have generated a little pressure in an empty cylinder giving you a little gas. Or you have a big leak which has vented overboard.
  7. My main concern over the Bridgewater is that if Peel should eventually decide that they will not repair it due to cost, although it is not C&RT waters, it could be the thin edge of the wedge if the decision is not robustly challenged. Future large scale problems could be solved this way if C&RT thought they could get away with it. I know Blisworth Tunnel is a major through route with no real alternative but the cost of repairing that now would be around £14 million - could C&RT afford that?
  8. I'm so old I can't remember what I had for breakfast
  9. ^^^^ Absolutely. I'm sure we all believe Liam, no reason not to, its the one telling Liam, and the semi-secretive way they have done it, that concerns me. I guess we will not know anything for sure for a long while as to which way it will go.
  10. Thanks for the info, fingers crossed.
  11. Sorry to those optimists that took me seriously, but bearing in mind the date I couldn't resist a tongue-in-cheek dig at Peel. Three months on, and I don't remember seeing anything from anyone in control at Peel about their intentions. I don't expect a detailed day by day plan, but a promise that they will definitely get it fixed in a timely manner would be good. Even a statement saying they had no intention of doing anything would be positive!
  12. Just the people still in the marina or passing trade?
  13. There will be an update tomorrow morning from Peel giving the definitive opening date for the Bridgewater.
  14. I'd strongly recommend the suggestion of cutting through one side of a link in the chain with bolt croppers - but only do it one one side of the fender, this will allow the fender to fall to the side thereby not losing the expensive fender!
  15. Not sure !'d want a rear wheel drive boat, wonder if its LSD
  16. I love the bit about no more chilly nights with the onboard electric heating - fine if you want to live in a marina with land line hook up, but otherwise........... get ready for the chilly nights, mornings and afternoons. And think of all that hot water generated by an air cooled engine!
  17. Even if new, you have been running it inefficiently (yellow flame) which creates crap in the burning pot. When all is clean, fit the new regulator given to you - don't try to adjust it, it should have been tested and set before shipping. To be honest, trying to fault find something like this by messaging is not ideal - there must be a human being within 50 miles who can fix it, finding them should be a priority.
  18. When the base of the burning pot is scraped clean it often pushes dust, scale etc back down the fuel inlet pipe. This will eventually set like concrete. Undo this pipe and ensure a good flow of diesel before starting to clean the inside of the flow valve. If the flow is good clean diesel, the valve is clean and door seals are good then there is very little else to go wrong - these fires are pretty simple. Check the videos on Lockgate website for cleaning the valve. It will take forever to set the high and low flame settings but it can't be rushed. ETA- check any filters in the system are clear
  19. Call Harworth Heating and ask if they can recommend an installer in Northern Ireland - if they can, contact them for a service.
  20. Did you contact Lockgate?
  21. Pronunciation is everything. When my nephew was little we all went on a family holiday to France so all the young kids could be together - it actually worked out better than expected! But for two weeks he went on and on about 'the Pinot fairy' - I thought he was on the good stuff already. On the way home it clicked - he was on about the P & O Ferry!
  22. You can only deal with things with the equipment you have - alternative equipment is apparently available at personal cost through medical intervention.
  23. If that's the consequence of dumping poison in the public waterways system, then so be it.
  24. I'd have thought the guilty party, in view of the business they are in, would have insurance in place. That should delay things for a few more years.
