  1. No, but if you pay extra at the theatre you expect the better seat,
  2. no, I darent, there’s some hard core women out there doing the locks for hubby, I’d get clobbered with a windlass
  3. I’ve a bicycle oil lamp, I might give that a try for a bit of fun, I don’t think it’d illuminate much but they’d see me coming
  4. how come you don’t leave it permanently mounted? or have you a torch 😃
  5. I guess you have a nice one then that you don’t want nicked. I’ve just replaced bulb in mine this afternoon after it blew going through Gosty tunnel last week. Made return trip through Gosty and Netherton Tunnels with torch on iPhone.
  6. this is where the GoBoats moored when charging up in the evenings. now, I guess the GoBoat company with CRT’s permission would have paid to have the blue electric bollards installed. I wonder if CRT will make use of them now the boats have vacated. I might email them and ask. Would it be much of a job to convert them to receive the prepaid cards? opposite there’s also this electric supply with a monster plug socket, I’ve assumed the electricity to all bollards are switched off but I might try them out another time
  7. right, so I’m not alone thinking that then, I’ve imagined the meetings it to be exactly like that, Angry ranting, there are plenty of boaters across ALL types who do it,
  8. That’ll be it then 👍 no, my switch is down the front end of the boat behind the lamp,
  9. I think that’s the ‘tunnel’ where I didn’t put me light on because I thought it were a long bridge hole, and didn’t think it worth it, I got shouted at by an on coming boat “haven’t you got a light?” Just googled it, 249 metres Hardly a fart’s length,
  10. Tipton has some of the cleanest water. Moor at the Museum and you can clearly see and inspect the hull.
  11. same, and my 2 year old starter battery takes several days to drop to 12.9v,
  12. I’ve only room for 150L, 75L x2 twin tanks. And I don’t go below 60L for fear of not picking up and running out. But being what’s commonly called a CCer and expected not to move any amount should last me forever anyway 👍
  13. sounds like you been on board my boat? only joking, I draw a line at mud, always wipe me feet I do 😃
  14. so you knew you were treading thin ice? I didn’t want to say anything and thought it best ignored, probably best forgotten and move on. the article posted earlier is interesting, I enjoyed reading it, I know little about boaters that worked the waterways, I appreciate it when others make an effort to inform.
  15. London would be the place to start. But I’m meeting folk that have left London only to discover there IS a world away from being down there and the world elsewhere is more lovely. I’m not sure I’m in favour though, perhaps they ought to stay put. Will they be able to adapt to Northern ways? Or will they promote their continental southern ways? Are the hipsters on the move? Will Tipton cope with an influx of yoga and coffee hungry millennials ???
  16. they looked good fun and it was nice to see folk enjoying themselves, bottle of wine and a picnic, they used to get down towards Edgebaston too. sometimes they’d pull alongside and buy an ice cream. they never knew which side of the canal they should be on and would ping from one side to the other, but they always looked jolly and happy which I enjoyed seeing, Yes , I looked too and saw they needed to update the site. Looks like they got them all round London too. Didn’t see any mention of Manchester though.
  17. I’m thinking now: a teapot full of sand pouring through a strainer. I reckon that’s the trick. 😃
  18. sieve in one hand and dust pan pushed against boat with other hand 🤷‍♀️ should last more than a few years before fading, anyway once you’ve got the top of the cabin sorted it shouldn’t be much trouble to spruce it up with a fresh top coat now and again to get that lovely shiny red back, gonna do mine again this year, I’ve no rust coming through so it’ll simply be a matter of scratching back the surface with sand/glass paper and a wire brush, then a nice couple of layers with a Post Office Red. thing is with a sandy/grippy surface it’s a pig to keep clean if that’s something that’d concern you. Collects the muck and dirt. I’ve slapped enough paint on the cabin top over the last 10 years to fill all my grippy surface. Since I’ve stopped using a ladder in locks whenever possible, I tend not to walk so much on the top anymore.
  19. Some folks might be pleased to know the GoBoats have left Brum. I’d got used to them last year so I’ll miss ‘em. I liked watching a bit of chaos and it never bothered me if they bumped me boat. It’s all rather dull now. I was told they gone Manchester. I wish them luck with the locks! 😃👍
  20. No disrespect, Many of us won’t recognise the name, if you could enlighten us about the woman it’d be appreciated, my sympathy and condolences to family.
  21. All depends where you’re starting from? Or should I know where you are? 😃 your not going to get there by winter if you’re only gonna do 2 locks at a time especially as the Marple flight’s out and you’ll have to go up via the other end at Bosley.
