  1. I did think of using a liner but I wasn't happy about the space between the liner and tank, thinking of condensation and a bit of a rust trap, but I do suffer a bit of OCD so probably not a problem, Just thinking when I did my tank another boater stuck his head in to have a look and, commenting on the electrolysis said if that got any worse it would sink my boat ,as the bottom of the tank is the bottom of the boat, I said more likely I would die from drinking canal water, he did not understand why it would not sink the boat and to be truthful I could not be a.....d to explain.
  2. I cleaned my water tank out last year, to be honest it was amazing the gunge that was in the bottom of the tank, climbed inside and repainted it, not recommended with out breathing apparatus, but must have looked really comical as my head appeared out the tank gasping for fresh air then hold breath and back in again. The really surprising thing was the year before I had the boat re-blacked and apart from a few little silver dents from electrolysis , no anodes left though the hull was sound, but the amount of electrolysis in the water tank was really surprising, If you have a full survey would the surveyor open up a water tank and have a look, fortunately I have a very thick hull but have now fitted a galvanic isolator . And the water is good enough to drink straight from the tank, but then as every time you fill your tank there is a possibility of foreign objects getting in, so how long I use it for we will see.
  3. This has probably been posted before apologise if it has but does seem to mention the VAT http://www.abnb.co.uk/boat_pages/2336web/2336abnb.php?BoatID=2336
  4. The days before computers and forums this would have been . Pillings Lock in liquidation moorers may loose access to canal, followed by boaters getting really worried no information forth coming, then great new new company saves Pillings Lock hooray would the old BWB kept quiet about their losses and just carried on not sure on that bit. But Lillie must be a total idiot to post all he has posted including putting what he intenede to do to avaoid paying the £160000.00 oh well we will see.
  5. Bit of newspaper scaremongering there, there is a programme that is downloaded by a the backdoor that makes it possible to work someones laptop with, but it is a very difficult one to get to work and if the hacker is successful will only work if the laptop is on and you are not using the webcam, it does play havoc with your laptop and you do notice it. Not been done on a mobile yet.
  6. Where did that come from switching on laptop please explain
  7. Yes I remember those days, I personaly think that if it wasnt for the clever people who have dicided to take cart on with clever arguments and loopholes re moorings, have now forced carts hand and they will give a distance that you need to travel to be a ccer, The Goverment obviously want cart to become self sufficient, and I would think cart would not have to much trouble in getting legislation to make it a definate act. I just hope it is reasonable and allows ccers a working possibility . liked it when it was under the radar and so long as you kept you head low, boat reassonably respectable did not leave a mess where you moored and moved when the nice man told you to it was alright ,now I dont know.
  8. I would not become a policeman for all the tea in China few bad apples I know, but in the past I have met real police haters who soon change their stance when they need one .
  9. This is the bit that allows them to, unless a delay in obtaining a warrant would be likely to defeat the ends of justice, for example, that evidence can be disposed of
  10. I wonder how many sellers watch the forum if it's about their boat they are selling lol
  11. Athy that's what I remember as being a glory hole unfortunately it has a more modern meaning just google it
  12. Made local news this morning , sounds like it is the complete recording device that police have got so maybe no images have been seen by anyone. I do know people joke about things that are serious and I am sure no one meant any offence by it.
  13. Derby evening telegraph and I realise it is not nice . But at least found and hopefully they will catch the perv
  14. Concealed camera found in Barton Marina ladies toilet.
  15. Just want to say what an amazing debate this is , cannot comment really as far more knowledgable people have answered or said a lot more than I could, just really feel for the moorers and really hope it all works out for them.
  16. Means fantastic in Welsh Merry Christmas all and a Happy New Year. Kev
  17. Obviously belongs to narrowboaters, well the amount of money I have chucked at mine thought it must be going somewhere.

  19. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Historic-1937-narrow-boat-boat-project-working-boat-barge-/290975371250?hash=item43bf7bcff2 To many projects on the go and I think a wee bit much but hey. I like the knackered bit lol
  20. I have to admit to being a older boater, and I am sure somebody please correct me if I am wrong ccer was not introduced until about 1994 before then every boat required a home mooring, ccing was introduced because it did seem very unfair that some boaters who just toured the canal network had to pay for a mooring they never used, obviously this also had some boaters who where not touring the network to moor for free, this was never really a problem as these boaters knew what they where doing kept their heads down moored where they did not cause a problem and moved if they where asked by a enforcement officer to move. When I think of some of the characters it did make the canals more interesting and generaly by their boats was always tidy, again to not draw attension to themselves. I also remember reading on the original ccing documentation for BWB something along the lines of if you have work school or family commitments ccing would not be for you, there was pretty much the same discussion then amongst boaters although no internet then, so not so well discussed, I think its a shame this has come so far and the consequence I fear is it will no longer be a grey area with a distance set with no returns in such a such a time, I am in a lovely marina at the moment due to work commitments I have to be on call with a 20 minute limit to be at my place of work through the night. Retirement looms and I cannot wait to tour our beautiful canals as a ccer so long as I still am allowed. No solution to it all wish I could, but really think this has gone to far now such a shame really.
