  1. Actually there very much is such a thing. It came into law in 1979. Although we now also have a thing called the consumer rights act, the sale of goods act is still the relevant legislation for goods purchased before 2015. (Never try to out-pedant a pedant )
  2. Actually there's the Sale of Goods Act.
  3. How the other half live! One of my years since buying my boat, my entire income was £10k!

  7. I suspect Martin’s comment was meant with tongue in cheek.

  10. Athy may have disappeared but there are other mods lurking around... It's fairly common for longer threads to meander around a bit over time. However, this thread has been thoroughly derailed by two members who clearly ought to know better. One by playing the wind-up merchant and the other by constantly biting the bait. I'd prefer to avoid coming across like an old school matron but it stops here and now. The original poster asked a perfectly good (if very familiar) question. Let's have a go at answering that shall we. Any more tit-for-tat sniping and derailing and I'll close the thread, which would be a shame. And to the OP - yes - get a boat. Don't stretch yourself financially though. Buy a cheap one and see if you like it first. Then sell it and buy a better one.

  14. If you're starting at Wolverhampton, don't forget the Great Western.
  15. I had considered that but i keep many things on that worktop. Not least of which a microwave oven.
  16. I have a Hoover Nextra toploader and am generally happy with it. Doesn't use much water. 6kg load. And, most importantly, fits in the gap I have for it. The downside is that I have a worktop above it so I pull it out each time I use it, which has taken its toll on my flooring over the years.

  21. https://www.hotfrog.co.uk/business/west-midlands/tipton/caggys-boatyard Not the sort of place which has a website. But worth a call.
  22. At the risk of sounding like I got out of bed the wrong side this, morning, I wouldn't trust Streethay to go anywhere near my boat. Not sure where in the Midlands is preferred, but Caggy's are good.
