Amazing, moored just past the first entrance to the Marina, My wife has just got it on the laptop via the dongle, intermittent, given up on tv. Time for a whiskey and a doze me thinks.

Has anyone any experience with one of these? Invested in one recently and decided to try and set it up to watch he flotilla but of course can't get a picture, best I can get 69% signal strength but only 11-14% signal quality. Am in the valley at Braunston so I'm guessing that's the problem, will try again on a dry day, when we move
  3. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079470/quotes?qt=qt0471953 What did the Romans do for us....
  4. Not sure how to give a Greenie but if I did this would be my first !!
  5. I came through Crick this morning to Braunston and there was very little room with more boats going, I think the idea of mooring before the tunnel is a good one.
  6. I don't think I would want to get nvolved until we had some clarity of ownership and a police reference etc.
  7. Agreed, You are so right .Work plan. 1. Remove large chip from shoulder 2. Do some serious sole searching about how to engage with recruitment agencies and employment service on a daily basis., 3. Make it clear to all that you are looking not waitng for things to happen 3. Extract digit 4. Go for it , it's tough out here but persistence will be rewarded. 5 do none of the above and continue pontificating
  8. Nope want to keep off the rivers with current changeable weather so Foxton, braunston, hawkesbury, fradley, Haywood,, middlewch, Nantwich , etc. go go go, slow slow slow
  9. It wasn't out of work benefit it was incapacity benefit (perhaps they are the same) guess that his previous claim for a work based injury to his back largely failed when he was casting a large sea fishing rod over his head. I remember him being totally upfront when he started getting the benefit , that it meant he didn't have to work again. I can't comment on his medical condition and actually I like he guy my point was more that there must be many like him taking up not only a lot of cash but also a lot of time of the benefit staff that perhaps therefore aren't able to give enough attention to this with genuine needs. Anyway I think its time I got back in my box.
  10. No doesn't appeal, but NB Aber currently at the junction of Welford arm and will be ploughing my way towards Crick should go past early afternoon. End of the first day of our cruise northwards. Have a good weekend.
  11. Came up the Foxton flight his morning in he drizzle , both the volunteer lock keepers on duty were keeping the boats moving and working the locks not just standing idly by, Was grateful for their help.
  12. I am loving the way that the OP is now comparing the fact that he failed through his own lack of attention to attend an interview with Ghandi and Ali. Unfortunately sometimes if you think the world owes you a living it has nasty habit of letting you know it doesn't.

  14. That's a lovely looking boat in and out
  15. Well said I read a very lucid story well written, sometimes it's not the fault of others and we need to take responsibility for our actions. Unfortunately I suspect things will get worse before they get better.
  16. Matty I don't mean to sound harsh but why should the taxpayer pay for you to set up your own business, i am sorry you are out of work but starting a business with no personal investment seems to me doomed to failure. I was accosted by two teenagers who leaflet dropping the village looking for work , anything from car washing, to ironing, gardening, they were seeking money to buy equipment to set up their own holiday home cleaning business. Have you considered something similar maybe linked to the business you were hoping to set up? You never know one of the recipients might be a potential investor.
  17. Damp newspaper sometimes with some sugar does the trick for us
  18. This is the wrong forum to air personal grievances I suspect, it's a hard world out there. Nothing is a given you will need to make it happen .
  19. I agree with Spannerman surely we should expect a reasonable standard. of behaviour from all rather than any particular group. The boat seems to be the issue if it's exclusively for serving personnel then a mail to the CO seems a good move if not the hire base, but I doubt they will do much if here is no damage. But it's bad publicity for them all the same
