  1. That's very true moored up at the bottom of he flight around 2 got he books out and opened the red wine. Could well stay here tomorrow if forecast comes true. I feel really sorry for those hirers trying to do a circuit, pub sounds a good idea if we can get to Polesworth or Hopwas if weather eases.
  2. Like you we set out last Thursday , we met today a couple who set out Friday on taking early retirement who sadly have just turned round and are going back to the Marina and home the weather has ruined heir dream it seems. It seems to be cold and wet everyday with no obvious end in site. Stick with it and good luck

  4. I will not be signing a petition. I was neither "shocked" or "appalled" by the general Jubilee coverage, indeed I thought most of it like the concert was well done. I am shocked and appalled by the current situation in Syria but not that fussed that different interest groups weren't all catered for separate specialist commentators. Sorry guys.
  5. Sorry to disappoint you but we think we are normal and I have just tied up after doing the Atherstone flight in the rain, got out my sledgehammer and my two 3' pins made by a blacksmith and I am confident we should stay put.

  7. Round figures per annum Marina £2000 License £1000 All fuels £1000 Maintenance provision £1000 Plus living costs
  8. I don't have a pension or a large house (although I do own a house) however I have always helped people who clearly want to help themselves rather than rely on the state to help them, funnily enough I think politics left or right is just an excuse to blame someone or something. Some people genuinely need helping unfortunately many just expect to be helped without helping themselves.

  11. About 5 years ago I was at Soulbury three locks when I moored next to a boat which had a smithy on board, the guy was really interesting and made me two x metre long 1" pins with rings and two x metre slabs with rings to go down inside the Arnco.. Today at Hawkesbury junction moored Aber on the bend and we have not moved, amazed at how many time the other boats have had to go out and put their pins back in.

  17. Went there early sat evening and again late sandy afternoon, 6x and Hooky both good, staff friendly and made both us and our two our dogs very welcome. Can't comment on the food the restaurant looked good but pricey. I really hope it works out for them.
  18. Met a guy at Braunston this morning who advised that the Elson point at Buckby is out of order/full so if leaving Crick that way I suggest you use the one at Watford locks.

    Weather

There seems to be more of it on the way. Arrived at Branston Saturday for the deluge I mean Jubilee, made a dash for Newbold in the dry planning to head north so thought I would check the 10 day forecast only 2 days where there was a lower than 50% chance of rain. However are we officially still in a drought I think we should be told.
  21. Of course we have it's all about someone alleging a boat has been stolen , but not reported as stolen , perhaps they might not be the rightful owner in the first place. I'm just about to take the dogs for a walk passed all the moored boats in Braunston anyone else lost one?
