  1. I think you'll find @paddy r runs that chandlery.
  2. Disappointed I was not able to make it with Nansen II.
  3. And one of the most awkward diesel pumps to get to when they have boats moored on their front, you are trying to stop to get diesel and boats are trying to negotiate the locks and junction.
  4. I think that is the one we used, stopped and filled up with water whilst waiting for the volockies to go to lunch.
  5. I was thinking more
  6. Perhaps it would be clearer if they used the same images as road signs.
  7. Not without cutting the well deck floor.
  8. It is enclosed within the bows.
  9. We have a stainless steel water tank.
  10. I think you will find plenty of the van dwellers have jobs paying a living wage but they have a job in Bristol that doesn't pay a wage suitable to rent or purchase a property in Bristol.
  11. The vans in Clifton are on the public highway, they are just outside the restricted parking areas as we used to park in the roads there for work. Never understood why they were allowed to establish the area as somewhere to stay in the first place.
  12. Mist have been there for nearly 10 years now, there are a number of locations around Bristol where streets have been taken over by vans.
  13. Probably all that ice cream van Greensleeves blaring out 🤣
  14. We moored at canal street many years ago in the days when the flight was locked over night as we had started the flight whilst the lock keeper had locked the top and was on his way to lock the bottom.. It did involve a ladder to get off the boat and we were against the wall, tied to the railings.
  15. The usual arrangement is twin coils in the cauliflower, one for the heating circuit and one for the engine circuit. It may be the engine wasn't run long enough to get the water up to temperature. We usually find about 1 to 2 hours of engine running gets the water to hot shower temperature. In summer if we don't move then an hour a day of webasto keeps the hot water hot, if moving then we will be doing a days cruising so plenty of hot water.
  16. Yes, the buyer should arrange their own independent surveyor. Getting, boat, surveyor and crane out facility all lined up at the same time can be challenging.
  17. Have you used https://canalplan.uk/index.html. you can plan your trip with the number of days and the stops you require and it will do the rest for you.
  18. If LadyG wants to avoid seeing drug dealing then better not come down this way, I've seen dealing in a few places around Birmingham and in Nuneaton. I think it was Nuneaton where we saw someone injecting someone else on the towpath whilst school kids were walking past. I once came up a lock on Farmers Bridge and had a chat with a guy who was heating his gear up on some tin foil on the lock side, seemed quite a nice guy.
  19. Fortunately myself and Jon are just about the right height to reach the walls. Certainly will be under our own power.
  20. We may be out of view on Vulpes for a few hours.
  21. I think there are too many locks now to get to the Birmingham level for Laurie since moving their home mooring.
  22. Still closed, there was an update today on the dredging that has been carried out and it was looking hopeful that it may be able to be reopened.
  23. They sell ones with black pudding in canalside farm shop, not my cup of tea, you need a bank loan to afford them though.
