  1. It's much, much easier on the software than the DIP switches! it's also possible on some models to use the remote panel as well. The Victron website explains all. Whereabouts are you just in case anyone with a PC interface is close. Cheers Gareth
  2. Can I ask how far the travel is at the handle end? Cheers Gareth
  3. I wasn't doubting what either you or the installer said....more just wondering how recently this had been discovered and of the cause of the failures was found. I've no doubt that some well known brands have wobbles....in the day job we use a lot of AA dry cell batteries and have used Procell which are made by Duracell for a number of years however they have had bad batches and just recently have shown a tendency to leak long before they are flat which is being somewhat annoying. It seems in this day and age quality control is not what it once was. Cheers Gareth
  4. I spent a happy few days at Brinklow Marina when work called just after we had set out on a big trip a couple of years ago. Really helpful people. Cheers Gareth
  5. My latest set of Trojans are now just over 2 years old and still like new...maybe it's newer than that then...mind you I look after mine...possibly better than a set in a truck which although charged every night possibly never gets topped up or equalised. New Trojans do seem to use a bit of water as they bed in but mine now use very little even tho we were off grid and discharging/charging quite hard over 4 months of the summer. I wonder what the long term life of the Polish make will be like? It's easy to make a product that lasts the warranty period but not much else!
  6. Cheers chaps....I will have a rattle around those pages! Thanks Gareth
  7. Interesting....I wonder which American maker he was on about....I can think of at least a couple off the top of my head. Cheers Gareth
  8. Sorry if this is a bit off topic but what facebook group was this posted on? I'm just curious cos I follow a couple canal fb groups but haven't seen this so there might be another group which I would find informative. Many thanks. Cheers Gareth

  17. I'd gladly take any damaged Defenders they might have...... Cheers Gareth
  18. The BBC news website says it wasn't taking in water....that might not be true of course...with that much out the water tho I'm guessing a large tide is needed. Cheers Gareth
  19. That's interesting....hadn't heard that report....guess some of the load shifted or they didn't calculate the loading correctly...i have read it was a "mixed load" so maybe it was different sized vehicles? I'm guessing that will make recovery even more interesting. Cheers Gareth
  20. When I went onto the Thames at Oxford I went straight across the thames and up the feeder the other side.....some hard reverse was called for as I realised....thankfully there was no traffic about.... Cheers Gareth
  21. I reckon the MAIB report might make amusing reading..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-30671548 Seems they had a pilot on board at the time as well....guess there might be some slightly dented cars on the market as well... I will feel much better the next time I park it on the mud up the Ashby! Cheers Gareth
  22. I guess now isn't a good time to drive down Slash Lane then…..got the Landy a bit soggy last time I tried that when the Soar was up…….ahem! Cheers Gareth
  23. I liked it when ACS were there….it was even better when the bakery was just next to the basin and you would wake up the the smell of baking bread which you could purchase directly from said bakery….happy memories! Cheers Gareth
  24. Well I've written to CRT and the Stockport council conservation officer. His details can be found on the bottom of this page http://www.stockport.gov.uk/services/environment/planningbuilding/conservationheritage/conservationareas/ Im not sure about putting his email address in case the spambots find it! So if you do object please feel free to email away. I"ve also posted on the HNBOC Facebook page. Cheers Gareth
