  1. Hi I want to do this to mine, polish not paint, can anyone suggest a good type/brand all I ever see is spray paint which I don't really want to use?

  3. Sorry MtB I copied the name from the post title, however, I checked Wheaton Aston on Wiki and no mention of a toilet block in the village's amenities (see below). Possibly if you don't know Wheaton Ashton you should be made to travel the network until you find it like Jason and the Argonauts and the golden fleece or something, but more likely you're right and I'm wrong which would appear to be the case. Amenities Although in the heart of the South Staffordshire countryside there are many amenities for the local population including two pubs, The Hartley Arms and the Coach and Horses (which also provides accommodation for a cafe/sandwich shop), Wheaton Aston and Lapley Recreation Ground, post office, paper shop, general store, a garage-cum-chandlery-cum-hardware shop (Turners), a motor engineers (Hinsley's) and a couple of farms (The Bridge and Whitegates) who also sell their produce direct to the public.[3] There is one school in the village, St. Mary's CE© First School, which has a total intake of roughly 100 children.[4]
  4. Sorry, when I read the title "Wheaton Ashton sanitary block " I thought it was about those blue things you stick in the toilet cistern to clean the loo, it is isn't it? I'm sure I've seen Wheatston Ashton sanitary blocks buy one get one free in Tesco.

  6. Driving down from Manchester to London at the crack of dawn this morning looking out at the frozen fields, mist and livestock breathing steam out of thier noses was for a change a pleasure.

  9. Thank-you Alan, that's all I wanted to know, I can go and look up the rest for myself. So the original asertion I read that the number of boats on the system is going down is true, only just, a gnat's whatever, but true none the less. I really didn't think it was correct but 0.7% deccrease it is. Thanks again
  10. Sorry Paul, I can't find it, but it's not important it was simply in a e-mail somebody wrote to Narrow Boat World about some issue or another of no relevance. It was only after I read the comment and when I thought about it I wondered if as this person was correct when they said the number of boats on the cut was going down, so is it true or not? It doesn't matter who said it or why don't know, don't care, simply are they right? I thought it would be an easy thing to check on the net but I couldn't find the answer so I thought if I asked here someone would instantly produce the figures and satisify my idle curiosity. So far I've had 1,400 views and 66 replies but no answer to my question up or down? K
  11. Hi All Calm down a bit, please no need to argue. Mr/Mrs Pentargon said" One of the better indicators of potential evasion is the numbers of boats which do not clearly show their name and number as required by the 1971 Act." But then supplies the relevant regulation (below) which clealy states "name OR number" so no need to have your name on your boat, name or number. 9. (1) Every powered pleasure boat registered under this part of this Act shall have its name or number conspicuously painted or otherwise displayed on the outside thereof in letters of such colour, character and size as will be clearly legible at all times, and shall also have similarly displayed the mark and number which the Board shall have assigned in respect of such pleasure boat Anyway for the third time of asking, does anyone know the answer to my original question, is the number of boats is going up or down? I'll amend this to read Licenced Boats, so over the past few years has BW/CaRT been losing licence payers or gaining them, is the licenced number of boats on the system going up or down. Unlicenced figures are pretty much speculation I'm only counting the licenced ones, up or down?
  12. Those of us who actually buy and display licences and pay our lawful dues need to become totally intransigent and intolerant of wasters and avoiders. Let us stop pointing to the very small number of canal users who are in genuine and uncalled for financial distress, bad health, or inability to cope. Indeed let us strive to protect such people as our needy neighbours and blitz the wasters and ne'er do well leeches who are sucking us dry. Because unless we all work together to eradicate this carry-on CaRT may have to look to us payers to pay even more. I am totally pissed off with the 'naval gazing' and harping about "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin". We've got a new organisation. BW and all the crass stupidity of that failed entity is either going or gone. There is a new broom and canal user have the right to hold its handle AND sweep with it. Let's start sweeping now and stop talking bollox. Have I made myself reasonably clear? I found myself humming the theme music to the dambusters as I read this bit
  13. Hi Paul Only just got on the computer and I did see that you asked for a link at 10.59 today, however, in my question I did say "this was NOT in an article" it was in an e-mail a reader sent in, I will try and find it and post the link. But for all that's been said by everyone on this topic I'm still none the wiser, is the number of boats going down or was the person who made the comment talking out of their *rse?
  14. I read in a comment on Narrowboat World that C&RT have a problem, that the number of boats on the system has gone down, thus a reduction in their income. This was in a reader's comment not an article, is it true or just a bit of ill informed gossip? I can't find any up to date figures on it? K
  15. I did this using a 5 Watt panel and it worked fine, too well on a bright winters day, had to screw the fan to a piece of wood to hold it down. If you've got a 10W panel you could consider a small 12 Volt battery to hold some charge for when the sun goes out, however, what you really need is airflow and I found slightly open windows, an extra vent in the door does much more to keep the air flowing than a computer fan ever will. 17. I think it comes out of Hansards, in the link below, if not this still makes for some interesting reading about how the Nobles in the House of Lords think. k http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld201213/ldhansrd/text/120625-gc0001.htm#12062510000089

  21. Why not invent a prop clamp, like a wheel clamp but it goes on the prop?
  22. I'm looking to do the same thing and found B&Q have a half price offer on a Response alarm system, similar spec: remote keyfob, panel, 2 x PIRs & 2 x door contacts for £89.99. The Yale system looks to be about £130 so it looks like a bargain to me. Kev
  23. I think it's a reference to hot dogs, missed out the tomato ketchup
  24. Never seen/heard of "Tesco bio washing fluid", what exactly is it?
