  1. well Iam off for the weekend on Larch tomorrow for a weekend break cant wait.
  2. Hey Chuggy Id deffo keep Larch... i would prob get rid of maple to be honest.. i brought this boat back from Birmingham a few years back i had been taken down there by the scouts. Had massive problems then. and was in a bit of a state then. not sure wot its like now,. although did se it moored at Nantwich easter weekend looked ok.
  3. Richard at narrowboats LTD Wincham Wharf is great guy and i would trust him a lot. He helped a lot of people out when Harrals wen bust last year! they always have lots pof boats to look at too. You also have Aquaduct marina Church Minshull Chris there is a great guy too very helpfully. Swanley marina seemed to have some decent boats when we was looking at buying last year. Rugby boats at overwater was the same. even thou someone has said to steer clear. its worth a look to see wot boats Ash boats at Tattenhall have there. in the Midlands we went to WIlton marina The used boat co based at Merica. We actually bought our boat from Longport Brokerage Stoke good look with the search. and hope you find the boat of your dreams and remember to boat a full survey! if you find a boat i no the contact details of a great surveyor reasonable priced. PM me for details
  4. When we did the Llangollen a few times out of Blackwater marina we did first night stop over at the jack myyton the we head to Llangollen basin we then head down as far as Wrenbury which can be done without rushing quite easily in a weeks crusing
  5. always moor at castlefield basin with our 65ft boat. you can also moor at potato wharf. over the other side of the canal. also you should be allowed to double breast if there isnt no space.
  6. After being out this weekend on a small cruise down to Audlem from Anderton and return. I did notice how inconsiderate some boaters are about slowing down passed moored boats. If i see a group or just one moored boat ahead i drop my speed down to tickover. and don`t adjust my speed till after i have passed. When I was moored below the bottom lock at Audlem just before the winding hole. I could not believe how fast boats were passing knowing the row off boats were moored on pins and against the dreaded shroppie ledge. then along comes the Audlem lass. he just doesnt slow down now i no its only a small boat but it does have a big breaking wash.
  7. Hey chuggy hope its all going well. I chugged past on Friday think i saw you standing outside wiv your coffee. The fleet is looking better already! Now quick question do you still hireout to single handed?
  8. yes you can hire an overnight boat from Claymoore narrowboats at preston brook. http://www.claymoore.co.uk/flexible-canal-breaks

  10. Hope the funeral went ok today and Maureen got a great send off she deserved. Did anyone on here attend?
  11. Very saddened to hear of the passing of Maureen. i hope she gets a good send off on Friday. glad it could be arranged for Maureen to go on her final journey by narrowboat.
  12. Yes have hired from canal time and canal boat club many times excellent boats & love the king sized bed in the front cabin! Have some great deals too
  13. Yes we got the same in the post this morning. its a great offer to be fair £125 off a week must say the xmas card is a nice touch too
  14. Is that Larch? are you still hiring out at present during the winter?
  15. do you still have all the boats in the fleet or have the previous owners kept any?
  16. We hired Rowan in Nov 2010. It was a last min booking for a week as i wonted to see wot it was like on the canals out of season. Now on the website it has that rowan is a luxury boat from the premier range. Personally i would say it was pretty basic. When we arrived at the base Rowan was waiting for us. To be fair it was looking a little tired but i put it down to the fact its prob just had a hard season. THe boat was pretty clean in side. But as i said it was far from "premier". we set of doing short crusing days up onto the Llangollen. We even booked 3 extra days onboard. so we spent 10 days crusing up to Chirk and back. It was last winter right before the "big Frezze" but Rowan played faultless. starting every morning. We even had the Central heating on flatout for 10 solid days too. as people have already mentioned that stupid deseil cooker. that just turned into a nightmare, we ended up eating out most nights due to it being so hard to use. but as ive said my actually thoughts of the trip were pretty good. and if i didnt get my own boat this year i would have hired again! Then at the end of this August i was crusing along the middlewich branch towards Barbridge. At Wardle lock we ended up behind Lilac throwing black smoke out. it had 2 older couples on it. and you could tell as they had only just picked it up there werent happy with the condition of the boat. As there were about to leave the lock the boat packed up. so we bow hauled it on to the moorings and the crew contacted M.N we then made our way and left them too it. Next day We retraced our Steps back along the branch towards Middlewich. When we were at the lock by Ventien Marine i saw Lilac moored up on the moorings with the couple unloading all of there stuff. while we were waiting to lock down. I went and spoke to the crew and they said the engineer got them going from Wardle lock and on there way they then broke down again by Aquaduct Marina. and then again by the lock so they had broken down 3 times within 24 hours. He said they had had enough and just wonted to go home. Not sure as to weather they were offered a refund or not.
  17. was at Nantwich for a couple of days few weeks ago never saw anythink at all never had any problems as for the Llangollen well ive crusied it many many many a time and never had a problem or heard of a problem. I love Wrenbury and dout there is any chavs around the area to cause trouble. only about 20 hpuses in the village
  18. Hi. Was moored at Middlewich few weeks ago and went to the Big lock. it has recently changed hands also. and had a great meal! They seem to be trying really hard to make it work! it was a lot better than when we went at the begining of th season.
  19. Congratulations Starr....its the best feeling as you sail off in your new boat! BUT.......Why arent you at the tiller! yes i agree looks a good little vessel!
  20. In marina were iam going to be mooring my new boat. each pontoon has a shore power connection. when you leave your boat for a few days to go home etc Do you leave it hooked up to shore power?
  21. Hi. The Llangollen should not be too busy around easter. Id try www.narrow-boat-hire.net. From there base at Blackwater marina Ellsemere. They have a 55ft 6 berth would be great. I have hired from Them a few times great staff & boats
