  1. Looking at the 2 pictures it strikes me the tunnel bands are the same colour, windows and even the vent in the gunnel behalf nd the rear fender all look the same. Rare Bear is Blue and Cream so why would it have a burgundy tunnel band? When most are red. It certainly looks like its the same boat and its had a quick paint job to disguise it and the tunnel bands are a lot harder to paint on the towpath. If it was me i would be getting somebody over there to check it out asap. If its genuine im sure the owners wont mind it being ruled out.
  2. Stolen boat Advert now live on Apollo Duck so hopefully it might get some sightings. http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=483648 Cheers Glyn New and Used Boat Co Mercia
  3. I have posted the Flyer on our website in the news section and on our facebook page, I've also created adverts on sales pontoon http://thesalespontoon.co.uk/For_sale/959/nearly-new-fully-fitted-50ft-narrowboat-for-sale-east-midla And Apollo Duck so hopefully somebody will spot it. I've also emailed Damian from CRT who sends out the boaters updates each month to see if he can send it around to all the boaters on their database. Cheers Glyn
  4. Sorry Bruce but your correction is incorrect, Heron are 40' moorings and they are just inside the main entrance gate to the marina, they are also near facility block 1 so you got that bit correct.
  5. Hi i work at the marina and got there at 9:30 on Sunday and they had already put it all out. The boat was on Heron the 40' moorings just inside the main entrance. The boat is called Vancy and is a complete write off but luckily the owner was stopping with a friend so wasnt aboard at the time.
  6. How about this one http://www.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=312422 Looks good and one owner with low engine hours.
  7. I would suggest its more natural for the majority of right handed cruisers to stand to the left side whilst steering with their right hand, this allows a better view down the passing side of the boat, if the controls for the engine were on the starboard side it would be harder to reach and you tend to access the boat on the opposite side to the control panel as access is easier so the majority have access to the right. We sold a Jonathan wilson Trad recently which had the controls on the right and steps to the left so there are some out there, it unusually had reverse layout as well which worked well with the extra long hatch, there is a picture on our website below, as the boat is sold I'm sure i wont be pulled up for advertising :-) :-) http://www.newandusedboat.co.uk/used-boat.php?boatID=185
  8. Hi if you've tried resetting the switches to no avail then it could be the switches at fault, I've had these fail before, as mentioned earlier its quite easy to remove the panel just 4 screws, you can then get to the back of the offending switches and simply connect the 2 terminal together with a short piece of wire to bypass the switch and eliminate that as the problem.
  9. Hi i think the type of panel fitted in 2006 may have the circuit breaker built into the switch, sometimes if they trip you have to switch them off and back on to reset them, it is however odd that you have 3 circuits gone at the same time, if you remove the switch panel and short across the 2 terminals on the back of the relevant switch and get someone to check the lights that will tell you if its the switch/circuit breaker thats at fault. Cheers Glyn Just seen the panel & as i thought the top pic is the 12v switch panel and they are combined switch/circuit breakers, you can see it says reset above, you have to push the off side of the switch to reset it then turn back on.
  10. Hi i work for New & Used Boat Co and we use RSL all the time Matt Ashmall is the boss there and the best person to talk to about any possible deals, We also had an email from ProMarine Finance a month or so ago as follows, so they might be worth a try too: From: Stuart Austin [mailto:Stuart@prolease.co.uk] Sent: 24 January 2014 12:28 Subject: Extended terms from Promarine Finance Hello We thought you would like to know we can now offer terms over 7 years and with a maximum loan of £50k. Only this week we turned around a deal on this profile in about 10 minutes – the testimonial from our customer is on our website and facebook page Deposits ideally 30% but we will consider less Our new rates are attached and our web app will be updated as soon as our solo sailing IT man reaches St Lucia – we hope he gets there safely Our minimum deal size is £5k We do pay commission Wishing you a busy selling weekend Regards Stuart Austin Director 01432 347 770 07977 936 084 www.marine-finance.org facebook Cheers Glyn
  11. Calcutt boats at Napton keep these pumps on the shelf and are quite reasonable.
  12. Talking as a boater since the age of five and builder, fitter, boat owner for over 30 years and now working for New & Used in sales for the last 3+ years, i find it amazing the amount of negative comments directed towards the boats we sell. The New & Used Boat Co have been supplying new boats from Collingwood who where formerley Liverpool Boats for 14 years now and have helped hundreds if not thousands of people fulfill their dream of getting onto the waterways, so i would consider that to be quite established. With regard to shape and power of the boats you will find most builders including Collingwood build widebeam narrowboats to a very similar shape, our widebeams come with a 52hp Canaline engine as standard and from personal experience delivering and also owning my own Collingwoods they handle just as good as the likes of Colecraft etc, we do reccomend an upgraded engine for larger boats especially if the customer is planning on doing a lot of River/Tidal work. Whoever you decide to go with for your new build i wish you all the best and hope you enjoy your adventures aboard. P.S we do have 7 widebeam demonstrators at our Mercia Marina base although they are all 60' in length you are more than welcome to come and have a look around and have a demo cruise if you wish.
  13. It was Whilton Marina who shipped boats in containers and they came from East West Marine in China, they were 39' or 44' but they have now stopped building them. Aqualine dont normally build anything under 57' but they have done 2 special order 45' boats, they are built in Poland and shipped over on a lorry via the ferry.
  14. Sorry i was originally offering my advice anout a boat i know from experience with a previous owner who is a good friend of mine. Although i have mentioned a boat we currently have for sale you will also notice i suggest that the other boat "Harebell" would be my prefered choice. Cheers Glyn
  15. I know this boat as a friend of mine owned it about 10 years ago, it was moored at Chapel Farm Marina when they had it before selling and buying a bigger boat, i did some work on the engine when they had it, the diesel return pipe seals went on the injectors and it was leaking and cutting out but once these were changed they never had a problem again, Archie the owner then also fitted a really nice solid oak floor which was reclaimed wood and he was a perfectionist so it was a really nice job. I now work at Mercia for New and Used Boat Co so have a good knowledge of prices and the asking price seems very realistic to me but if you get it anywhere near your planned offer of £15k i would consider it a bargain. The only boat we currently have in that budget is a 40' 1989 trad Springer, maybe worth a look but in my honest opinion Harebell would be my choice of the two. http://www.newandusedboat.co.uk/used-boat.php?boatID=275 Cheers Glyn
