  1. C*cked last post up so: How to be unemployed for 8 years? That's easy. 1- Get your wife/partner/significant other to develop cancer. 2- Decide that the vows you took actually mean something. 3- Juggle work/caring for as long as possible. 4- Bow to the inevitable in this caring/sharing world and give up work. 5- Use up your savings. 6- Choose to either A. Claim benefits that you've both paid in to for years or B. Enter in to a suicide pact. 7- Decide that whilst Option B might assist the Economic Recovery, Option A is preferable for a variety of reasons. 8- Try to avoid feeling a burden even though many say you are. 9- Wonder what the feck to do when the disease wins. Eight years and counting... But not for much longer.

  6. I use a Standard Horizon HX851 which, when bought 2 years ago, was the only DSC handheld available. Not had any problems with it, reasonable range as is and has been used with an RG8 adapter to mast aerial for longer range use on lumpy water trips. Not cheap but a reasonable alternative to a fixed set if, like me, a fixed installation is a problem.
  7. Ha! Activation mail went in to Junk late last night but wasn't flagged. A pox on IOS 7...All tickety- boo now, thanks TDH.
  8. Registered last night, no sign of confirmation Email as yet...
  9. Trevor did the pre-purchase survey for us in 2005 and BSS exam in 2009. He did a thorough job on both occasions and his survey report was very clear and accurate. We'll need a 25 year condition survey in 2015 so he or Mike Carter will be calling at Lancaster!
  10. Just read this thread. We adopted two kittens and had them chipped, etc. Fitted SureFlap microchip flaps and they worked perfectly. At 11 months old Jenny went missing so we notified Petlog, local rescues, papers, radio, put up posters, etc. all to no avail. A little later Jake started having problems getting through either flap so they were left unlocked while we were still searching for Jenny, then a letter came from the vet asking us to bring the cats back for re-chipping as they had been using a faulty batch... So Jake now has 2 chips (One fails to read intermittently) and Jenny?....Doubt we'll find out, her code is still on the flaps just in case.

  14. Listening to the rain pattering on the cabin roof while the wind rocks me to sleep in bed. Stumbling out of bed in the morning to be transfixed by the glorious view through the porthole. Working a lock with folk I haven't met for ages yet it seems like yesterday when we shared tales and laughed together.
