New gas water heaters

I am buying a new sailaway and am looking at my water heating options. On my old boat that I used to own it had an old type of gas boiler to heat the water which is quite common on older boats. I remember hearing somewhere that "new boats" won't pass the bsc inspection if they have a gas water heater fitted. (dont even know if new gas heaters exist) Indeed I have yet to see a new boat with one fitted and I have looked at a few.

Are diesel water heaters man enough to cope with a liveaboard (constant use) during a British winter.

George.

The issue with gas water heaters is the RCD. This may, or may not, disappear in the next two years or so.

If you are not building to comply with the RCD there is no real problem. The Morco D61 is popular.

A diesel heater and calorifier will, if properly installed, also meet your needs.

So will a gas boiler like the Alde etc with a calorifier. My 20xx heats the domestic water very well. Importunately the 30xx series requires a stainless calorifier and non-copper pipes. Another similar is the Tru something or over like caravans use.

Is it just for water heating or would you also require radiators as well? If you need both then there are several options both gas and diesel on the market. The water heating can be used independently of the radiators
