Guest
I think what he's trying to say is that the EA may be like quite a few organizations where they replace old knowledge with young whiz kids with nothing but book learning and ego. Bob Certainly what the Eletrickery Board did were I once worked. "Centralisation" was the obsession and a massive cock up. People sent to work on mains in areas that they didn't know, whilst people sat in offices dicking about with computers whilst forgetting what they were there for (if indeed they ever knew.) I suspect the EA is similar; that was certainly my experience of them when the canal burst by us 14 years ago. They came from afar, had no local knowledge whatsoever, and made a complete hash of things. BW were similar by then. One word really "centralisation." Scholar Gypsy
Quite an interesting programme about flooding in the Fens. BBC Radio Cambridgeshire from last summer. This inlcudes an interview with Jeremy Pursglove, whose book I have plugged somewhere (but cannot find where). http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02xc81t
