Gu advice

I'm after some advice on where to take a trip out for a fortnight. I'm currently in Barrow upon Soar and know that I want to go south through Foxton. (been th other way too many times and fancy a change). Where do you guys recommend? I'd appreciate recommendations for Biringham or where in the GU could possibly visit.

Why not the Leicester ring - its a good fortnights cruise with time go up the Market Harborough and Welford Arms. If you want to be really energetic you could add the Ashby in as well.

Not a bad idea to divert up the arms. Not been up them before. The ashby might be too much of a rush and would like to enjoy it when I get a bit more time to do it.

I'd second a divert up to Welford and Mkt Harborough I guess most folk just sail by but both these cul de sacs are an absolute delight, esp the Welford, even if the cut is a little shallow. Personally I think the GU going South is far more interesting than the section towards Brum and you could take in the Waterways Museum but this makes it an out and back trip of course.
