o b clathers
Thinking ahead to the autumn / winter and just wondered if anyone has any experience of bio ethanol fires in a boaty environment They seem to offer a clean, easy alternative to the traditional wood or coal burning option and (in theory) can be stored when not in use Any observations ? pearley
We had one for our first winter. Useless as a source of heat and there is a distinct smell. The left over bio fuel was good as a firefighter when we replaced it with a proper stove. Incidentally, the one we had a large sticker proclaiming it was not to be used indoors despite it being designed to slot into a standard fire place. Mac of Cygnet
. The left over bio fuel was good as a firefighter when we replaced it with a proper stove. The use of ethanol to fight fires is not to be recommended, in case anyone is wondering.
bag 'o' bones
I seem to recall bio ethanol is quite expensive and not particularly 'hot' - as in it lacks the calories of other fuels. As others have said useless as a source of heating, but if you are looking for something that replicates the look of a solid fuel fire it might be worth a go. Paul's Nulife4-2
I think you would be better off using a Screen saver of an open fire on your laptop ! Edited June 29, 2015 by Paul's Nulife4-
Jambo
Yeah the bioethanol fuel is bloomin expensive (something like £2.50 per litre). Also being ethanol I'd imagine the BSS would have something to say about it.
