Winding Holes between Romiley and Marple - Lower Peak Forest

So, some advice needed. Currently in the excellent (IMHO) Portland Basin Marina, just having blacked and repainted Gracie.

We have arranged to go back up to Romiley for a fortnight to be near family, but have to go to a wedding in Worsley a fortnight after that and visit a friend on that bit of the Bridgewater Canal.

OH says we cannot wind below Lock One on Marple Flight and I say we can - does anyone know?

Gracie is 52 feet, OH reckons too many mud banks for us to wind

There is a winding hole marked in Romily itself, south of the bridge (presumably you will be mooring north of the bridge). Can't remember the state of it though (I don't need winding holes).

Agree about Portland Basin - Guy and his staff are excellent. Size isn't everything.
