b0atman
Now that we have got rid of BW and have a new broom can they please review their moorings policy for those who pay CART. 1 All paid for moorings to have all facilities Water Sewage disposal and Rubbish disposal. 2 where possible to be on offside with aim to long term go for this 3 To be no more than ? so many boats in a line and then a gap before next line. Just suggestions .
alan_fincher
Not sure if you are having a laugh or not, to be honest - I suspect I may be falling into a trap here! At the vast majority of CRT long-term tow-path mooring sites adding a water supply or sewage disposal would be prohibitively expensive, and probably most of the time nigh impossible, particularly as many have no road access whatsoever. People who pay for such facilities are unlikely to be vaguely interested in the massive price hike that would be inevitable if this could be done. Similarly whilst CRT own the tow-paths and access to them, the number of places the same can be said about the non tow-path side, to the extent CRT moorings could be provided, must be highly limited. Those who want to pay large amounts for security, water, elsan, etc will generally choose an off-line marina, (hopefully not Pillings!), those who just want "somewhere a boat can reasonably be kept", without paying any more for it than they currently do may well choose a CRT tow-path mooring, (or maybe an off-side farmer field one, where "end of garden" fees will usually also be payable to CRT). That said I know of a popular area where CRT have repeatedly advertised offside, fully serviced moorings, (electric, water, Elsan, rubbish & good car park), and consistently nobody has bid in the last half a dozen or so auctions - surprising, but true! b0atman
Alan Fincher there could not be a large price hike as cart match local area pricing the only reason prices are above the local area are rich people bidding high to get the mooring that they desire. So bucket and chuck it is ok then ? sewage facilities surely are a must have
alan_fincher
So bucket and chuck it is ok then ? sewage facilities surely are a must have If they were, wouldn't CRT find it impossible to let most of their tow-path moorings? How can CRT, or anybody else, possibly provide an Elsan point unless they have access to at least running water, and either a mains sewer, or road access for a sewage lorry to access a cesspit? The vast majority of existing CRT moorings clearly have neither, so your "must have" seems to be unachievable. I really don't understand where you are coming from on this, I'm afraid. Athy
I don't think many boaters want to get sewage, unless they grow rhubarb at home. Alan, where can these moorings be? Do their facilities include flying pigs?

alan_fincher
Alan, where can these moorings be? Do their facilities include flying pigs? Grand Union South, near us - easily found on the auctions notifications. No idea why, as they used to attract a substantial premium - if we were not looking for a longer boat I would have grabbed one months back!
