Overplating Leak

If a boat has been overplated and leaks how do you find the source of leak assuming the leak inside does not coincide with through hull corrosion on outside - in other words the water is getting into the space between original plate and overplate then flowing in this gap until it finds a hole in the original hull?

Also to be considerd is that the hull may flex at some times and the leak may go away temporarily.

Is MPI technique any good?

ETA this is for a Springer in the same marina as us.

Drill a hole through the inner plate, weld a tube on and pressurise with an airline and look for the bubbles on the outside.

I like it.

Water is coming through the hull at point A, but the leak is remote - assumed leak is on overplate weld no-where near point A - it's travelling through the annulus.

Hi,

For a moment I thought you were referring to a problem with Pathfinder 2....

Keep polishing the Gardner... nice clock on eBay for a Gardner engine room - could be personalised.......................
