Secure mooring near Wakefield

Work will take me to Wakefield for a year starting next spring and I think that rather than commute / live in hotels I might move my narrowboat up there. Any suggestions for a good secure, preferably offline, mooring within 10 miles of the Wakefield - Normanton area?

There's actually a boatyard right in the centre of Wakefield, next to the Hepworth Gallery. Run by a rather 'individual' character, I gather. Sorry I don't have contact details, but you could ask there. Looks rather scary when the river's in flood, though, being immediately above the weir.

Fairies hill is within two miles of Normanton and has a bus stop at the bottom of the lane with a choice of three bus services in and out of Normanton and Wakefield so you don't necessarily need a car. It is offline and secure.

I can second Fairies Hill. We moored there and had the dubious pleasure of owning the nearest house to it by vehicle miles (i.e. not the lockkeepers cottage at Woodnook!)

BWML have one at Woodlesford which is 5 mins drive away from Wakefield.

Lemonroyd marina BWML as secure and quiet as you can get. All facilities and cheapo electric.

9 mins straight forward drive to Wakefield for myself to work

You will however need deep pockets !!
