boating peoples plaque

Hello All

Just rec this info

CRT have agreed to erect a commemorative plaque to the work of the boating people

during the two World Wars.

The plaque will be erected in Birmingham beside the toll office @ the top of Farmers Bridge Lock.

It will be unveiled by Alice Lapworth (nee Wain) on May 30th @ 11am .

I think there should be one in every major town to remind folk what canals are for!

South Midland Water Transport will be attending with the Greyhound. It would be nice If a few other (former) working boats could also attend and show some support.

Heritage Working Boat Group are taking at least one boat and Joe Hollingshead will be going along on the Nansen as far as I know.

its was nice bit of the event today on the midland news tonight itv - well done to all .

Central TV did a good report on this and even linked in some historic footage (inc shots of MB Pinner). Nice to see the people appreciated at last.
