Doorman
Kipor or Honda? Don & Val Hi Don & Val, I think if you want an educated answer to that question then Pete's the guy to ask. Even though he specialises in Honda generators he's not averse to other makes, even as suggested by many others, Honda clones such as Kipor. Our Kipor was used for about 30 hours and never let us down, started easily every time and served its purpose well. Our choice of Honda on this occasion was purely based upon need variation. The electric start will be linked to our Smartgauge auto start up feature once the voltage drops below a pre-set parameter, via a remote control module. Plus, as Mrs Doorman is somewhat diminutive in stature, the electric start will come in handy if ever I'm away from the boat and she wants to run the washing machine etc., Mike Edited January 21, 2013 by Doorman
Richard10002
Without being conversant with current prices in the UK,, 30% sounds a low premium. Honda. I think you can buy three Kippors for 1 Honda in the UK, which is what leads people to buy the Kipor. If there was only a 30% premium for a Honda, I don't think Kipor would have much of a market. I bought a Honda, (twice), even at the premium here.
Doorman
Hi Mike Your Kipor is still going strong and worked great all last year,I have just serviced it and have put it back to bed whilst we have the shoreline. Great little genny and works well with my set up , cheers for the sale. See ya soon mate take care. Stan . Cheers Stan, Two things crossed my mind when I gave you and Dawn first refusal on our Kipor genny. Firstly, my integrity, which I've always strived to maintain throughout both my personal and business life and more importantly, Secondly, I didn't fancy getting a good slapping from you, or Dawn for that matter if the bloody thing was faulty! Biggles
I had a long chat today following several emails with Pete. I have a 6.5 diesel generator and he has given me some great advice on my issues which I will follow up. He is close to me and is willing to come out and do some tests for me at a very reasonable rate. I think this chap should be made some sort of friend of CWF as he really knows is stuff and is so willing to help and really deserves our business. I have no commercial connection to him. Doorman
I think this chap should be made some sort of friend of CWF as he really knows is stuff and is so willing to help and really deserves our business. I have no commercial connection to him. Neither have I. But as you say, he does really know his stuff and given that many boaters use generators to supplement their battery charging facilities, he's a great bloke to deal with not only for advice, but for spares and consumable items too.
