Chrisy Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 Hi All, Any idea how long it might take to cut a 6" hole in 4mm steel with a jig saw?
bottle Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 My wife asks how many blades have you got?
TandC Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 Hello - less than 5minutes in my experience! when I cut holes last year for new roof vents, I purchased a bog-standard hole-cutter saw. It was rubbish and just made a mess of the paint as the teeth stripped themselves off. I don't think it liked the curvature, plus it was a cheapo one. I resorted to the jigsaw and was amazed... having measured, measured and measured again following previous "opportunities to learn" involving cables etc, i simply put a 10mm drill hole in the steel, and then sawed to the line using my Bosch jigsaw, with a standard metal cutting blade set to a high speed. I gave it the odd spray of WD40 as I progressed the cut and it took just a matter of minutes to complete a pretty good finish circle through 6mm steel roof. It's easier than you think....
Tonka Posted November 5, 2012 Report Posted November 5, 2012 circumference of a circle is 3.142 x the diameter so that is 19 inch approx
