ruston pride
Could anyone reccommend me any good valuers please? Who can come out to the coventry canal. And somebody who isn't over-optimistic, as I just need to keep the probate bods happy rather than sell the boat for as much as possible! Cheers
Athy
ABNB at Crick. Are you intending to sell the boat (I infer from "probate" that you have inherited it?) ABNB would be more interested in coming to see it if they were going to be asked to sell it for you.
Ray T
Try Dominic, he may value the boat for a suitable fee as he travels quite a bit. ruston pride
Thanks for that. I am not going to sell the boat, just need an official bit of paper to keep everything legal. You are right, I did inherit the boat. Its far too good on the canals to sell it! So I now live on it
Athy
Ah, so it's the dreaded Inheritance Tax. How fondly I remember the Revenue relieving me of forty grand just because I had lost my dear Dad. So you need as low a valuation as is sensibly possible, I guess. Pleased to hear that the boat has stayed in the family and that she's loved and used. Does your forum name give a clue to the make of engine which is fitted in the boat? ruston pride
Athy, that's exactly right. The boat is falling to bits and about to sink, honest! The boat does have a ruston, probably why Dad bought it, and I love it. Noisy, leaky, grumpy, but with character. good value boaters are also worth finding. I'm building some cupboards with wood I rescued from the bonfire, and the bushes often contain hidden treasure. Does that count?

Athy
Noisy, leaky, grumpy, but with character. That's similar to how I remember my Dad in his later years. What's the engine like?
