Digital TV Broadcast Sites

I've mentioned these maps in a couple of threads, mostly off topic if I'm honest, so as it's information that may be useful to travelling boaters thought I'd give it a bit more prominence.

There's a lot more sites than there used to be, so pointing at the old analogue locations won't necessarily work.

Please also bear in mind that different sites are likely to use different frequency setting to avoid interfering with each other so running autotune or whatever may be necessary.

Edit:

And one of these or similar will cut out the guesswork.

Even though the PDF is dates 2012 the Meridian one seems not to be correct. I am sure the Oxford transmitter now transmits Meridian.

I have one of these, and really it's easier, if you can see the TV screen just to turn the Ariel and watch the screen.

That's fine, but only if you've not moved out of area since your last retune.

OK if you don't cruise over long distances, but pure hell if you go from (say) Meridian to Central to something else.

Unless of course, there's something obvious I've missed.

The Maxview / clone stuff is not very accurate, but at least it detects a signal right across the UHF tv band.

This assumes the channel you are seeking is being broadcast on the channel currently logged against it in your TV reciever kit. You might end up using a mediocre to poor signal from a distant site whilst ignoring a better one from a closer site using different frequencies.

http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tvd.exe? and a compass has worked well for me for the last few years. Just tell it where you are and it will give a good idea of which transmitters will be of use.

Saving the location of sites on my phone's mapping software makes life even easier in the areas I normally go boating.
