Engine oils.

What is the most popular oil used by members,I have a Isuzu 42 should I use their own brand or are there better oils on the market.

I remember hearing someone say that "it's a waste of putting expensive engine oil in boat's engine as they're designed to run on crap".

 

I just use unbranded straight 30's from the local Chandlers.

It's simple really, just check the specification (not just the viscosity) given by the engine builder/manufacturer and buy the cheapest of that type available.

We use Shell Vitrea 480, apprently its the 4% tallow that does it! (although i beleave its acctaully sythetic now)

- However, i wouldnt condone its use in an IC engine at all.
