Gazboatman
On my trip from Gloucester to Leeds (well Skipton) I would say the Stafordshire and Worchester has some stunning parts. Took this picture about 4 weeks ago, Can't imagine how nice it would look on a nice summers day. Also the Shroppie had some nice parts, prob missed a lot due to cruising in the dark. Can't wait to get out in the summer.
journeyperson
It might be the Calder & Hebble Or the Leeds & Liverpool Or the Rochdale Or the Weaver Or somewhere else.
the grinch
for me it has to be the Wey and Arun, below Baldwin's Knob Lock through the trees is beautiful in the spring / early summer, autumn down the bottom end of the Arun navigation is again lovely in the mist then on the main canals i love the Trent and Mersey and the BCN both have a nice mix of country and town
Rebotco
To me, they are all bloody gorgeous. The landlubbers just don't know what they're missing - and I aint gonna tell 'em! Brian
alan_fincher
If you don't like locks try Braunston to Sutton Stop - North Oxford. Have you come up with a way of avoiding the three paired locks at Hillmorton, then ? Don't forget even the Southern GU can offer nice long lock free stretches..... It's about 19 lock-free miles from Cowley Lock to Hampstead Road Locks, I think, even without taking in a detour down the Slough Arm. I'm firmly in the camp that needs my regular feed of locks, so personally do get a bit bored if faced with 10 or even 20 miles without them - each to their own, of course! EDITED TO ADD MY FAVOURITE: Staffs and Worcs I'd say - I absolutely love its quirky locks, bridges and tunnels, but have yet to sample anything north of the Weaver, so can't comment on the more Northerly ones. muddywaters
We found some beautiful sections on the T&M also love the Llangollen. But one of what I consider to be the most beautiful canals I have been on is the Rochdale.
