We can see through the filler inlet that the sides of the tank are rather rusty

I am going to have to drain it all down ,dry it and re black it

Has anyone ever FIBRE GLASSED their WATER tank !!

Ps the new inverter is working fine ! with no problems . ;)

Many thanks Nige

Tank liner is the best solution IMO should last donkeys years, you can get them made to measure I believe but will cost. Having to repaint a water tank every few years is a nightmare scenario IMO. And the initial cost will pay for it's self in the long run. In a way they're as good as a S/S tank as you can probably use water from these as drinking water if made with the correct material.

Of course

A good solution following cleaning out prior to liner is using Waxoyl instead of usual blacking. Between the liner and steel sides will condensate, waxoyl will stand up to this much longer than the usual blacking, depending on the fit of the liner, if made to measure it will likely stick to the waxoyl so when the liner partially empties it will stay stuck to the steel sides avoiding any gaps that would condensate, as Waxoly has a tacky finish and never fully dries out.

Well, waxoyl is the saviour of many a 2CV, so it is very thoroughly recommended...
