totally! and what a fantastic run that is too - one of the most dramatic canal journeys in the country. I did it in the depths of winter a few years back, utterly memorable.

Take in the montgomery canal as well and still do it. Book in advance latest 10.00 on the day with the locks at Franklin Junction open between 12 and 2. Seven miles of absolute sheer beauty with the bonus of the navigation inn at maesbury try the grolsh on draft beats yer fozzies hands down!

I agree - the Montgomery Canal is worth visiting, and you'll have plenty of time spare. (I am biased though, as I live right next to it!) A mile or so north of Maesbury Marsh, near bridge 77, is a nice place to moor up - very quiet.

It might be better to book the locks at Frankton Junction, rather than Franklin Junction though...
