Bullfrog
For our new boat we have a BW registration number and a current paper licence. I see many boats on the cut with what I assume is is their BW reg No on a plaque or plate mounted on the side of their cabin top. Is this necessary - compulsory? and if so where do you get one? Thanks David Bridle
DHutch
Is this necessary - compulsory? and if so where do you get one? It is compulsory to display a plate on eather side of the boat. - You dont have to attach it outside tho, a lot of people just put them up in there front windows. - As for where to get them, i assume BWB issue them? So i'd start be ringing them. Daniel
Richard Bustens
They come with the first application for a license included with the paper ones, they are aluminum and flimsy, if you know the number you can get brass ones made by most chandlers Kings lock will do it for you. stuart
Remember that the BW number should be shown on both sides of the boat!
DHutch
Remember that the BW number should be shown on both sides of the boat! Indeedly so. - Although it dont thing there any rules on where about on the side they have to be? - Alot seam to have them i the front windows (we do) - But then again, all the trads have them painted on by the stern. Sam
Although, You can have it painted - not just on a atached board or alike!
Bullfrog
Thanks everybody, especially Richard Bustens. I've spoken to BW who agreed I should have been sent the plates - in fact they were still sitting in some filing cabinet! Now on their way to me and then on to the boat - mustn't have people taking 'photos of me thinking I'm a non-payer! Regards David B

Khayamanzi
There are strict guidance about the size of the letters in relation to the size of craft but I think that applies more for use on rivers such as the Thames.
