Not necessarily closed but C&RT called to 'discuss' our bookings for August. Following mutual agreement we have cancelled. Even if we got over to the Lancaster we can't risk not getting back as we fly to Canada on September 25.

We just had CRT call us about our September booking as well. They've cancelled our booking to get up to the Lancaster Canal (not a mutual agreement in our case, it was "We're telling you it's cancelled" dressed-up as "We need to look at potentially cancelling [and we're going to give you reasons in the hope that you agree]"). One reason given was to prioritise boats that need to return to a home mooring on the Lancaster - understandable, though I do wonder whether they've accounted for those that have bookings but have been unable to leave the Lancaster in the first place due to the stoppages.

The second reason did confuse us - "We don't want you to potentially get stuck up there - the passage may not be open again until April!". Well... yes, that was actually our plan, to spend the winter up there and come back off the Lancaster in Spring next year. They didn't really seem to understand that response though. Have I missed something and it's not normally allowed to stay up there over winter without a mooring?

I did notice the Ribble Link disappear from the list of bookable passages a couple of weeks ago, not long after we plumped for the September booking, so I think this has been coming in the background for a while. Bummer!

Ooh, are you on a deadline to return to Yorkshire?  Good luck with that!
