Ring gap

From Goggle - first hit.

As a basic rule of thumb, a gap of 0.004-inch of end gap per inch of cylinder bore diameter is a good place to start. Some second ring sets can be set slightly looser, but that depends on the ring configuration and the manufacturer specs.16 Jul 2015

My replacement 1.5 diesel engine is ready for its pistons.

I can't find any recommendations for ring gap setting.

Anyone help please?

If the bore and honing is correct and the right rings are used it is unlikely that they will need gapping. I set BMC 1.5D and 1.8D to 10 to 14 thou. but have not had to set any new rings for donkey's years. They always seem right straight out of the box.
