Victron inverter repair

My 3kw inverter/charger failed recently and was advised that it was terminal. Nothing blew up, just stopped working. I have a new, near identical Victron fitted.  I was then wondering whether to try and get the old one fixed for resale.

It's a 14 year old Phoenix model and it seemsa shame to throwit away. Sellweb. Co.uk do repairs and have said I can take it there.

Any thoughts?

I sent mine to sellweb, cost a forune to post, (heavy) after analysis they said it couldn't be repaired there and so they'd send it to Victron in the Netherlands (at my cost), a couple of weeks later Victron called to say it was not economically viable to replace it so should they return it (handling and postage cost of - from memory - about £50) or just destroy it. Guess what I chose.

Victron have picked up a nice set of 'part used' spare parts for nil cost.

Just be sure that it can be reapaired and that you get a no repair - no fee deal or you could be well out of pocket.

I got a respected specialist to hook up his laptop.  He reckons the unit is unlikely to be repaired but not unfeasible.

Given the value and sheer bulk of these things I figured it might be worth fixing for resale. It must weigh a good 12-15 kilos and would be a terrible waste to throw it away

I had exactly that experience a few years ago. I felt at the time that I'd been somewhat ripped off.
