I changed the prop for the recommended size and it has transformed the boat. It now stops much better and cruises at a lower rpm which is quieter and uses less fuel.

 

Original spec sheet for our boat lists the prop as a 20 x 16 on a 2:1 box mated to the 43

Last survey identified the fitted prop as a 19 x 12

So either the specs are wrong, it’s worn down a bit, or it’s been changed at some point

20 X 16 seems a bit big for a Beta and most modern hulls won't be deep enough to accommodate it without risking prop jams as logs get stuck between prop and skeg.

 

19 X 12 should be OK, possibly a little overpropped.
