strummerjoe
Hi all, I am in the process of refurbishing a Morso Squirrel which i have come across. Most of the bolts, nuts, screws and fixings are either beyond use or I have had to forcibly remove. Can anyone point me to a supplier of replacements? I have had a google and i can find some of the more popular replacements such as the glass clips but not really coming across of someone who can supply everything. Any help much appreciated. Cheers strummerjoe.
BEngo
I have now refurbished at least 5 Squirrel stoves. It is easy, if filthy. An angel grinder is your friend. You have done the hard part when you have the top and bottom off. Parts wise, Everything is available, at a price, from morso direct or harworth heating. Both have given me good service. Exploded diagrams and part numbers on both sites IIRC. Google the morso part numbers for the best results. Most economical to only use the specialists for the big lumps and small special-to-stove bits like glass, clips, real brick firebricks, coal rail retainers etc. The chimney collar came with fasteners last time I bought one. Any decent fastener stockists will do the bolts. I usually use A2 or A4 stainless socket caps (Allen screws) with plenty of copper grease. You can then unscrew them even after a a few years use. Orbital Fasteners near Ricky are good, if you are that way. Allfix near Poole do a good online mail order as well. You will need a variety of sizes and lengths because you will almost certainly need to re tap some holes a size larger. Again IIRC Originals are M5 in the door, M6 holding it together and M8 for the legs. Stove rope and glue for the joints and the doors from ebay or Amazon. Firebricks ditto if you are OK with vermiculite. N

strummerjoe
Thanks for the responses. Ill contact the three companies mentioned above and see if I can locate all the necessary nuts, bolts and fasteners and if not then I'll check further afield. Thanks all strummerjoe.
