  1. Thanks for the responses. Ill contact the three companies mentioned above and see if I can locate all the necessary nuts, bolts and fasteners and if not then I'll check further afield. Thanks all strummerjoe.
  2. Hi all, I am in the process of refurbishing a Morso Squirrel which i have come across. Most of the bolts, nuts, screws and fixings are either beyond use or I have had to forcibly remove. Can anyone point me to a supplier of replacements? I have had a google and i can find some of the more popular replacements such as the glass clips but not really coming across of someone who can supply everything. Any help much appreciated. Cheers strummerjoe.
  3. Excellent, thanks for the recommendation, I’ll give them a look! strummerjoe

  8. Afternoon all, I am thinking of having a cratch cover fitted to the front of my boat and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a fitter in Scotland. many thanks! strummerjoe.
  9. hi, i think you are right, unfortunately I have no lights in the engine room at the moment and it was pouring a rain up our way today so i couldn't open the hatches for a better light. I'll be passing over the weekend and I will try to get some better pics. cheers strummerjoe
  10. And as I’m at the boat I’ve taken some more photos in case they help. one is of the engine, a couple from the top from the top and the other is the best I can get from the other side showing what the top pulley connects to. hope this helps. cheere strummerjoe The one from the far side has loaded upside down. ?
  11. Hi there, it’s a Lister HW2M. cheers strummerjoe
  12. Hi, That was my original question, how do they move together to release the tension as I can’t see an obvious way to release one or the other?
  13. Hi, you would think it would be that straightforward but there doesn’t seem to be an obvious way of removing either the top or the bottom section, hence my post. and the belts are actually on tighter than they appear and won’t simply pull over to be replaced. cheers strummerjie.
  14. Hi there, I am in the process of doing some work to my Lister engine and have come across something that has stumped me, though that doesn’t take much! can anybody advise how to remove and replace the two belts shown below? I cannot see an obvious way to remove them! many thanks all strummerjoe.
  15. Hi, its cool, i appreciate your thoughts, i'm still relatively sprightly, though the old bones do ache a bit on a cold morning! ?
  16. Excellent, thanks for the advice everyone. I think it's looking like Bedazzled by the looks of the recomendations. atrummerjoe
  17. Hi all, Just in the process of fitting new electrics to my sailaway and was looking for recommendations for lighting companies and of lights themselves. I've been reading that a lot of people like Bedazzled, any other recommendations. And as for lights i've read that warm white it better, again any other advice or recomendations? Thanks all. strummerjoe.
  18. Hi, Thanks for the comment OldGoat, that was my thinking as well. I went with Bimble and ordered it today along with the required batteries as they were also the cheapest for those as well. I'll also go back for my solar panels next week! Cheers strummerjoe
  19. Thank you for the context, hopefully the chap fitting it knows about all of this but i'll pass all this on to him. Cheers strummerjoe
  20. Hi, Thanks for all the responses. And especially thanks to pearley, I had no idea they had two different settings and I was just about to take the plunge and order one from Bimble! I'll drop them an email just now to check. strummerjoe
  21. Hi all,, hope everyone is keeping safe in these strangest of times. I should preface this with the admission that I know very little when it comes to electrics. I am now at the stage where I am about to buy a Inverter/Charger for my boat and I have settled on a Victron Multi-Plus. I have been scouting the web for best prices and have come across this on Bimble Solar: https://www.bimblesolar.com/offgrid/victron-equipment?product_id=1213&sort=p.price&order=DESC There are a couple of odd things I've found. One is that the picture iincluded on the page is of a Phoenix Inverter and not the multiplus and , secondly, when you search the product number i only find two british websites selling it, both solar companies, which I find odd. (I only did a brief search) But what is even stranger is the price. Here is a link to what i think is the same model on the Off-Grid website, which s a full £550 more expensive so I am assuming that something must be wrong or I am missing something obvious, which is probably the case. https://www.off-grid-europe.com/inverters/inverter-chargers/victron-energy/victron-multiplus-12-3000-120-16-inverter-charger I would really appreciate any thoughts and comments, especially if anybody has experience purchasing through Bimble Solar. Cheers strummerjoe.
  22. Hi, thanks for the recommendation, it’s a bit above what I was looking to pay but it might be worth it if it lasts me a few years. Cheers.
  23. Morning all, No electrics in the boat yet still in the fit out stage though I won’t admit how long I’ve been in this stage! ?
  24. Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll have a look at one of those.
  25. Hi all, hope you’re all have a good evening. Im looking for recommendations for a portable generator. My plan long term is to invest in a Honda but for the moment I am looking for a more modestly budgeted option. I only need it for it for when I am using power tools around the boat, angle grinder, jigsaw etc... and to charge my phone and laptop. No charging of batteries etc... As for budget well I am looking at no more than £250 as this will only be a temporary solution for... well we all know how long things take on boats! ? Don’t mind if its petrol or diesel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Cheers strummerjoe.
