blackening the Hull/ painting the anodes inside and out

Featured Posts

Lifting out depends on where in the country you are and by what method you are lifted out. Aim for around £150 - £200 each way (out and in).

Many folks will use a dry dock, either DIY or 'paid for'.

Blacking will take a week so you will need to hire a dry dock or space in a yard for 1 week.

DO NOT paint anodes otherwise they won't work, they must be left as bare metal.

Again the cost of blacking will depend on where you are in the country , budget for £12-£15 per foot in the Midlands / North and £20+ per foot in the South. Prices will probably be plus VAT.

I had a 45 footer done about 5 years ago and it cost about £800 for the complete job including new anodes.

It is not an easy or pleasant job to DIY.

A short narrowboat would probably only need 4 replacement anodes if the existing were very depleted.

Some boatyards give a minimum length of 45 or  even 40 feet for blacking prices as anything less than that is not really any less in cost for dock emptying or time and services taken.

can any one  help me with a rough price for the above subjects on a 30 foot narrow boat including  taking the boat out of the water

You don't say if you will be doing the blacking yourself or getting the boat yard to do it, here are some typical boat yard prices:
