alexmh1985
Hi guys little help please! I'm installing... or trying to install a victron bmv-712 battery monitor. I've looked all over the net and I cant figure out quite how to wire the shunt. I realise that it goes between the negative of my battery bank and the main negative bus bar. But, does my alternator feed go into the main bus bar or on the battery side of the shunt? I'm 70% sure the alternator will connect to the main bus bar... but just want to make sure and victron support lines are closed. Thanks Alex
hider
Bus bar side, nothing between the shunt and the battery.

nicknorman
Yes, the only thing to be connected to the domestic battery negatives is the shunt. That includes the engine battery negative - connect it to the other side of the shunt, not directly to the domestic battery negative. It is probably connected to the domestic battery negative at the moment, so you must move it.
WotEver
Yup, it’s a simple rule. Everything, yes all wires, yes even that one, all go to the far side of the shunt.
