  1. How do reckon that the taff rails are going to slice you in two ? What difference does it make if you are swept off your arse or your feet ?
  2. Before I fitted taff rails to my trad stern I gave it a lot of thought and sought opinions from people who had them fitted on their boats. Since fitting them I am glad that I made the decision to do so. It will be very interesting to know if there are any statistics to prove that boaters are more at risk with or without these rails. As far as being abominable to some people it doesn't bother me in the slightest because the relief I get from my aching joints by sitting on them is a bonus.Until someone comes up with a better solution they are staying. The only boater I have ever spoken to that has fallen off the boat due to the tiller snagging didn't have taff rails. So you pays your money and makes your choice. Only my opinion of course.

  5. Yes, we waved to you as we passed on the 13th when you were moored just below DEVIZES.
  6. It happened to us 4 years ago, 1 day before moving onto our boat. we sold all the contents of our home except the bed which we were spending our last night in and this was being picked up the following morning. We got the phone call at 9.30 p.m. from the person buying our house to inform us that their buyer had pulled out that very day. After returning from the boat the same day after putting the final touches together we sold our car at 6.0pm and was looking forward to the following day's train ride to BATH to start our new adventure. To say we were gutted would be an under statement, but we bit the bullet and went anyway. The following months were somewhat worrying as we had to find a new buyer, fortunately we did, and haven't looked back since. Hopefully you will find a new buyer soon and will put this disappointment down to experience. In the meantime we wish you have better luck and see you on the cut with your dream fulfilled. Good luck.
  7. c&rt boat crews pick some choice places to moor and they should know better.
  8. We will look out for you and give a wave as we are on our way to bath. At Kintbury at the mo and will be making headway tomorrow.
  9. By inspecting the hull in clear water is exactly is how I noticed that the 2 anodes on the bow and the 2 on the stern were almost non existent, but the 2 fitted each side of side of the hull are o.k. We have spent 4 months of the last 4 years on shoreline during the winter, perhaps this is the reason ?
  10. Our boat was 2 coat epoxied in 2009 and is still in good condition, it came with a 7 year guarantee for normal wear and tear. We are lifting out in 10 days time for anodes and I will give an account of the condition of hull then. If all is still o.k. then I think the cost will be worth it.
  11. When we returned from France I telephoned the licence department and renewed over the phone, even after my licence had expired for nearly a year. It's worth a call.

  17. Very nice photos, we were on the SPPC cruise and couldn't get near the quality of your snaps. The water was choppy and being lower in the water along with the lack of expertise may have had something to do with it. Thanks for sharing.

    Slow worms are lizards.

The colour description and size in Op is fairly typical for Adders. Grass snakes are more colourful. Slow worms do swim as I have seen them do so, but I haven't seen an Adder swim.

    Probably an Adder.
