  1. We use a guy in Hinckley http://www.chalkiesdecals.co.uk/ really nice chap, if your local he will put them on for you and he will do any design work , we call at his house if we want anything and he shows us on his computer before cutting, plus he colour matches for us, don't be put of by the motor bikes (although they are fab), we had 2 vans done for the price most wanted for 1.
  2. “Pete Harrison” gave this info in another thread BCN images from the past “ The B.C.N. gauge registers list 18751 (09 September 1903) as being 69'10 x 7'0½'' with a stowage length of 56'0 and stowage beam of 6'10½'' - draught light 7.77'' - draught loaded with 35 tons = 41.76'' (0.91'' dry side). This boat was previously B.C.N. gauged as 11958 (27 August 1886) but unfortunately this table no longer exists, or at least I have not seen any version of it. Interestingly part of this boat still exists incorporated into a 50' pleasure boat.” The boat is “the Countess of Moira” and I understand after much soul searching by its present owner (purchased 1977) it is now for sale!!.

  4. So all the recomendations on here to use a smart phone would also be reportable under the road traffic act for all the same reasons??
  5. Hi I use a 7inch tablet pc with the i-go maps on it, its far better than my tom-tom and has all the advantages of a tablet pc, plus a big screen I use it with a wirless reverse camera which unpugs from my 4x4 and it fits on the front of the boat (why? just because I can) and it was cheaper with free updates
  6. Hi I was recomended to use Chalkie's decals, he owns a boat so he knows what its all about, and as a bonus he came and fitted them which was much better than me doing it and getting bubbles and not too expensive http://www.chalkiesdecals.co.uk/ good luck
  7. Are moorings in short supply everywhere or just around Nuneaton, there looks to be plenty of spaces at the "lime kilns" (BWB or whatever they are called at the moment) moorings on the Ashby and if moorings are out there what do they cost ??
  8. are moorings in such short supply that you have to plan 2 years in advance ?
  9. You only get one chance as copper hardens with working and age, I always treat new and old by annealing befor use, takes a little longer in the short term but save hours of frustration

  11. it is only for visiting boats eg not kept on bwb water and not kept in marinas attached to bwb water, I did all the reserch for the "caraboat club" some time ago and I have just done a "dummy run" on line to make sure and I was still able to licence without a BSS. hope this is helpful
  12. Hi you don't need a BSS if you keep your boat at home and only keep it in the water for no more than 56 days in any one year you just have to self certificate, you would need insurance and a explorer licence. best wishes

  15. My link Hi All, I have just had my boat fitted with some great new Custom Vinyl sinage and would like to reccomend their services, the chap that came out to fit the boat(Craig )was most polite and have a narrowboat them selves so have an eye for what they are doing, and understood the look I was trying to achieve quickly. They are a small company based in Leicestershire ( East midlands ) I thought I would mention it as I have always had sign writters but I am so chuffed with the result at a fraction of the cost. This is their website Sarahs Signs http://www.boatsandcaravanvinyl.co.uk/Boat-Decals.html Hope this is of Use to a few Thanks Paul.
  16. after breaking several more expensive items I now get mine from poundland a proper mans shop
  17. Try Terry on 07707201308 he makes hoods and covers for difficult applications and he's not too expensive
  18. Firstly can I make clear it is not my video, just one of many posted on the net by people trying to be helpful, unfortunately paying scant regard to health and safety, this is most assuredly a case of “don’t try this at home”. I do have an eberspacher fitted and it is silenced and very quiet (just a background hum) it services the hot water and 3 rads very efficiently, would I run it fulltime ? NO. The hot water and rads are heated by the engine whilst it is running giving “free” heat which would in some cases just be wasted to the canal. Also fitted is a small “boatman” stove which burns wood or solid fuel most efficiently when required. Would I use this combination again in a different boat ? yes, hope this helps
  19. Hi I have a cheap one listed in for sale & wanted try this link
